Maid Service - Webster/Clear Lake

Ok, I'm a guy, and probably a normal one.
I don't like cleaning house.
My wife doesn't like that I don't like to clean house.
And while I don't want to do my share, I want to be sure my share gets done, so it doesn't all fall on her.

So, I am considering a maid for every 2-3 weeks to come in and do the normal stuff.
Will my wife go for it? Doubtful, as she turned me down a year or so ago, when I brought it up. But she might go for it.

So my questions
- Do you have a maid come to your house?
- How often?
- Do you like them?
- Do you trust them????
- What do you pay for them?
- Do they do all the stuff they are supposed to?
- Have you had any issues with theft?
- Would you recommend them? If so, may I message you if my wife agrees to move forward?

Please feel free to drop any other information you think is good to know or think about prior to starting with a maid.

Thanks in advance!

Can't help you with a local recommendation but -

So my questions
- Do you have a maid come to your house? Yes, past 6 months or so, have never had one before. I was skeptical of it at first, but the expense is worth it.
- How often? Every 2 weeks.
- Do you like them? I suppose? She's quiet and works nonstop from 9 until 4. I work at home and don't have time to supervise, nor would I want to. I make it a point to engage her with hello, thank you, goodbye; otherwise not sure she would say anything to me.
- Do you trust them???? Yes. I've no reason not to. She came recommended from a close friend and we would both inform one another if there was a trust issue.
- What do you pay for them? $80 a visit for 2900 square feet. Vacuum, sweep, complete bathroom cleaning, kitchens, dusts, tables, couches, she even cleans the cat litter boxes (prefer she not do that, it's the kids responsibility) and makes the kids beds and changes the sheets too if there's clean ones available.
- Do they do all the stuff they are supposed to? Every time. My wife is amazed at how everything sparkles.
- Have you had any issues with theft? No. She broke one item once, but it was no big deal and she brought it to my attention immediately. I deeply appreciate the forthright honesty.
- Would you recommend them? If so, may I message you if my wife agrees to move forward? Yes, but we're in the Plano area. I'm happy with the way we found her - she is the wife of a home improvement contractor that painted our good friend's home. She's been cleaning their house for a year or so, and they recommended her. I think referrals is a much better way to go than a service, though a bonded company might appeal to others.

I find that our house tends to get cluttered and having the maid come every two weeks completely eliminates that problem. The kids' floors are picked up because "Ms Sonia is coming." I put my own junk away (though, the garage... needs some organization). We try not to "pre-clean" but I make damn sure that the house is in a state where I get my money's worth. I pay her to clean, not pick up after us, and a regular schedule has really helped improve the state of cleanliness in general at my house.

Good luck convincing your wife. :)

I had one before I moved, and am actively looking for one now. Well worth the price...We did it every two weeks. $85 for 2600 sq/ft. Ask your friends and family...Facebook friends too. I've always gotten recommendations from people, and that makes me a little more at ease.

The refferal route is the only way to go. We have had a lady with us for 18 years. She comes for four hours once a week. Hits the bathrooms and kitchen and then vauums and dusts. We found her through a church connection and the lawn service guy. We even pay her to check in on the house when we are out of town as she has developed several clients in our nieghborhood.
Checking with your neighbors is a good way to go and enjoy service.

When the wife decided she didn't like staying home and wanted to go back to work, we decided to hire a maid. The woman that we picked actually is a member of our church that cleans houses for her living. She is a widowed single mom with 2 kids and all of her references spoke very highly of her and now we do also. She has a key to our house and comes every Tuesday while we are at work.

I've had BAD experiences with maids.. two times and both were referrals.

First time we hired a couple of hispanic ladies who had been cleaning a couple of family members houses and were actually live in maids for an uncle. About the 5th time they decided my money was theirs and took about 4200 cash and skipped town. I decided to never hire another maid.

Fast forward four years later. We moved out to the peaceful country by this time living on 6 acres. We were convinced by the wife of a sheriff that their hispanic maid was the greatest find out there. She was with them for 2-3 years and no issues at all. We thought about it and gave them a shot. First time out they cleaned my house like its never been done before. All the wood was oiled and everything. Beautiful. Second time out, Veterans Day three years ago. I get home to find my house cleaned as well as cleaned out. Part of my company does home integration so I was decked out with house audio, flat screens everywhere, dedicated media room, photograghy room.. all the cool gadgets. When I drove up to an open front door I figured they were still there and airing it out from mopping or something until I got further up the driveway and realized there was no car there. Walked into all my electronics, jewelry, GUNS, alcohol, cash.. approx 36k in goods was just gone.. upon further inspection we found how the upstairs carpet was vacuumed and no footprints yet all the TVs were gone??? There were multiple signs proving the maids did it.

I found out the hard way home owners insurance doesnt cover a lot of things either.. guns i think was maxed at 3000. cash, 300. jewelry 2500. So unfortunately what I was paid on didn't go towards replacing my collection of firearms because we had to use it for other necessities. :(

So, where does that leave me at now? well... :) I did it again.. it is hard to resist the professional cleaned house. I found a very nice local lady that charges me 75 to come in and clean. She is awesome and I honestly can trust her even with my past.
