many of you have seen from my posts that I spend alot of time with my in-laws at various doctors appts...that's simply what I do...

this morning my father-in-law had a stroke...they are still trying to determine the severity, get him stable, etc....

prayers would be appreciated, for everyone...it's going to be long...
he's frustrated, he's right side and voice won't obey him
she's in denial, I think, she keeps saying "you'll be ok in a few days...." (nope, not really, although there has be a wee be of improvement since this am)
and for the rest of us trying to jungle it all

thank you all,

yesterday he was doing great! then last night it seems he may have taken a bad turn...we got a call this morning that he had a very rough night, he hit a nurse, (or tried to?), he tried to stand up...maybe a couple of other things. I would normally have been there, but my sister-in-law is in town and has taken over the night shift, and honestly I've been fine with it, but darn it all why didn't she call me???? I could have calmed him down....now we've all been kicked out and I have no idea what's going on. No...I'm not doing well at all.

my father-in-law has finally be transferred to a "step-down" room!!! he'll be there for a few days and if he continues to do well then he'll go to the rehab facility. this has been a long haul just to this point, but I think it's getting better from here....maybe?

this last week has been so full of ups and downs, it's been difficult. but G-d has been with us, without a doubt. My father-in-law should be transferred to a rehab unit tomorrow! at one point his whole right side was paralyzed, now, he has strength and movement in his right leg, movement in his arm, some in his wrist; I haven't seen his fingers move, or movement at his shoulder; He was already blind in one eye, and his good eye has been affected. his speech has been affected and his swallowing, meaning his eating, this will be further addressed at rehab. really all of this slowly has been getting better over the last week, except the last

thank you for your prayers, I know his improvement has come from G-d, and His strength is the only way any of us are still standing.

You have my prayers.

"For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds," says the Lord. (Jeremiah 30:17)

And it is perfectly acceptable to write "God" on this Forum. He imbues all we do.

Oh...I don't do it for censoring...I have several friends who are Jewish...I've just gotten in the habit over the years of friendship, I don't even realize I do it anymore, if I'm on the keyboard I do it.

Praying for your FIL and the whole family. I can't imagine what a trying time this is, for both him and those loved ones around him. May you all have the strength of heart to endure the recovery, especially if it takes longer than we would hope. Sounds like he's making good progress, though! We mere mortals may not understand why certain, good people are made to suffer, but try to take comfort knowing that all is in accordance with a larger plan.

On a side note, I follow the convention of writing the Lord's name as G-d, too, being Jewish. Interestingly, even written out it's still an abbreviation/English substitution for his true name. Often in Hebrew you'll see HaShem - meaning "The Name," as a means to avoid invoking His name in worldly places.
