He was a good actor, loved by many and not so many for his villain character he played. May he rest in peace. :frown5:

The Hagmans (and also Jack Nicholson who was a friend of Hagman's) were acquaintances of my parents', whom they met while soaking in a hot tub at a Malibu party back in the late 1960s. Hagman was quite the dope smoker for a while there. My younger brother once smoked a joint with Hagman as they strolled around the Caltech campus before a party at my parents' house. I had married my first wife and moved away from home by then, so I never met the man; but I was entertained by the stories my family told. They were more like friendly acquaintances than what you would call close friends, but a certain segment of my parents' circle of friends also were part of Hagman's circle of friends.

I still crack up when I think about the penultimate "who shot JR?" episode, during the scene in which JR is to reveal his attacker. Of course, everyone who was following the show was riveted to their seats and leaning forward, listening intently. Living room conversations all over America screeched to a halt as people craned their heads to hear the fateful answer: "It was......It was........... too dark....."

That was actually really funny.
