Are fingerprints and background always required?

I hold a current Texas private security commission. Both requirements having been met, will they be waved for CHL?
If so, will process be expedited?

As a teacher in Texas, I was required to do both prints and BGC a few years ago. The prints were even done by the same company. I was told no, that they both had to be done again.

Welcome to the forum scotts404.

The answer to both questions is "no" they will not be "waved".

The fingerprints will also be needed as well as a background check.

This question was asked by a couple of people in my CHL who had government security clearances.

You will have to start at the end of the line, just like the rest of us did. ;-)

We were told in class that the FBI requires 1-1 fingerprints for the background check--so it doesn't matter how many times the state has your prints. Same reason you have to have them done again when you apply for the instructor class even if you already have a CHL

No wave. No nod. No wink. Fingerprints are required for the initial CHL application.

Meanwhile you can carry under whatever authority your private security commission grants.
