I'm hearing a lot of people "mailing" their documents to DPS. If you pay online & have a valid Texas DL, you can email DPS your applications now. You simply hand write on the CHL-6 form "Please use my Texas DL photo". Any document can be scanned & emailed now, CHL-100's, CHL-6's, DD-214's, etc. it's a much faster way to get your stuff in & much faster acknowledgement of receipt. I'm shocked more people don't use this method.

I learned it after my wife and I had already mailed our forms in. My best friend is taking the class tomorrow. I told him to email the docs. Our apps took 45 days from mailbox to mailbox. I'm curious to see how much quicker it will be for him.
