Give up your gun, and get a free flu shot (value about $10) and a gift certificate to an upscale grocer (where you money doesn't go as far) according to the following scale:

• long rifle earns a $25 gift certificate

• handguns earn a $50 gift certificate

• semiautomatic weapon, a $75 gift certificate

Get that? Your $600 Glock is valued at a $10 flu shot and $50 worth of overpriced groceries. Your $800 Remington 700 is valued at a $10 flue shot and $50 of overpriced groceries. And finally, your $1000 AR15 is valued at a $10 flu shot plus $75 of overpriced groceries.

Last year, Worcester police collected 40 guns this way. What surprises me is that there are 40 in Worcester dumb enough to make that trade. Ah well..... it's Massachusetts. What do you expect?

TAM, you answered your own question. OTOH, a stolen gun doesn't have much value to a thief. Are these people encouraging muggings, looting and burglary with their false offerings?

That's one state where I don't believe private transfers are allowed, so one could not go and camp out at the entrance to make a better offer for those firearms.

:smilelol5: You remind me of the first time I did a FTF purchase/sale here in Texas, not too long after having moved here from California. I bought a Springfield Loaded 1911 from another member here, and we did the deal in a QT parking lot across the street from a police station. I laugh now, but back then my head was on a swivel and I felt like I was doing a drug deal or something. He was almost laughing out loud at me. God bless Texas.

If Massachusetts residents could do math, they wouldn't have reelected the president.

You might get a flu shot out of it, but how are you going to prevent lead poisoning going forward? :mrgreen:

This is what "gun buyback programs" were designed for...

http://now.msn.com/gun-group-re-arms-it ... om-buyback" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Chicago's annual gun buyback saw 5,500 weapons turned in for $100 gift cards each, but not that many will be out of circulation. That's because an Illinois pro-gun group that brought in 60 useless firearms is using its take to buy ammunition and bolt-action rifles for an NRA youth camp.
