I read this story and it made me physically ill. Why is this dirt bag and traitor still alive? :mad5
The top appellate court in the U.S. military Monday further delayed the trial of the Army major charged in the Ft. Hood massacre more than three years ago, ruling that the judge presiding over the case is not impartial, and ordering him removed.

The court also set aside Gross’s order that Hasan be ‘forcibly shaved.’

Even our military justice system is broken.

No kidding! By not shaving he is violating a military regulation that all other Muslims must obey. This ruling will give them permission to also disobey. The fool(s) have no idea what they have done.

There was an interesting segment on TV this morning about the beard shaving. Even though he is in the stockade, he still has a chain of command including a commanding officer. While the court responsibility to make him shave might be questionable, the authority of his commanding officer to make him do so is beyond discussion.

Of course, I'm not expecting that order to issued any time soon. The chain of command above has no intention of allowing it.

Just a minor correction... the military does allow exemptions to the shaving regulations on religious grounds, so that is not new or would open the flood gates for other Muslims. I personally know an active duty, Jewish orthodox serviceman who is allowed to keep his beard. I am not sure if this observance restricts the roles in which he can serve.

So the prisoner has the same rights as the Orthodox Jewish guy who is honorably serving his country?

The terrorist has more rights. It's the Chicago way.

It is interesting that not until he allegedly committed mass murder did his dedication to his religion's beard growing become an issue. It couldn't have anything to do with the fact that his conviction might hinge on the ability of survivors of the murderous rampage to identify him as the man who shot them and others, could it? And where was the application for the exemption and its acceptance by his chain of command?

That wasn't the meaning of my response. I was merely speaking to the permssion to disobey for other Muslims comment. He indeed should not be entitled to the same considerations as someone honorably serving our country. As the OP wrote, it is indeed a sad state of affairs when even our military justice system is broken.

I didn't know that. I was in the Navy when they started only allowing beards with a medical reason that had to be approved by a Navy doc. They might have allowed them for religious reasons then, too, but I wasn't aware of it and didn't know anyone that used that exemption.
