NCAA bowl games - Alamo, Cotton, etc.

I'll be heading to San Antone for the Alamo Bowl on December 29th. Since I'll be "on the premises where a high school, collegiate, or professional sporting event or interscholastic event is taking place," I know carry isn't legal.

I've looked though old threads, and it looks like I'll be in the market for something like a Kimber Pepperblaster II, which I believe is legal to carry there.

Some questions for discussion:
  1. Who else is going to which bowl games?
  2. Any current opinions on the Kimber or other similar items?
  3. Historically, why is the sports prohibition there? (I understand the relationship to schools & colleges, but why pro?)
There are six bowl games in Texas this year:
  1. Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas, El Paso, 12/28, Minnesota vs. Texas Tech :fire
  2. Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl, Fort Worth, 12/29, Rice vs. Air Force
  3. Valero Alamo Bowl, San Antonio, 12/29, Texas vs. Oregon State :rock"
  4. Hyundai Sun Bowl, El Paso, 12/31, Georgia Tech vs. USC
  5. Heart of Dallas Bowl, Dallas (at the old Cotton Bowl), 1/1, Purdue vs. Oklahoma State
  6. AT&T Cotton Bowl, Arlington (at Jerry World), 1/4, Texas A&M vs. Oklahoma :thumbs2:
(Sorry Rice fans, there's no owl smiley on here.)

I'll be at the Armed Forces Bowl. A group from our Dallas and Fort Worth Texas State Guard units will be unfurling the large flags on the field during the pregame.
