NCAA bowl games - Alamo, Cotton, etc.

I'll be heading to San Antone for the Alamo Bowl on December 29th. Since I'll be "on the premises where a high school, collegiate, or professional sporting event or interscholastic event is taking place," I know carry isn't legal.
I've looked though old threads, and it looks like I'll be in the market for something like a Kimber Pepperblaster II, which I believe is legal to carry there.
Some questions for discussion:

Some questions for discussion:
- Who else is going to which bowl games?
- Any current opinions on the Kimber or other similar items?
- Historically, why is the sports prohibition there? (I understand the relationship to schools & colleges, but why pro?)
- Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas, El Paso, 12/28, Minnesota vs. Texas Tech
- Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl, Fort Worth, 12/29, Rice vs. Air Force
- Valero Alamo Bowl, San Antonio, 12/29, Texas vs. Oregon State
- Hyundai Sun Bowl, El Paso, 12/31, Georgia Tech vs. USC
- Heart of Dallas Bowl, Dallas (at the old Cotton Bowl), 1/1, Purdue vs. Oklahoma State
- AT&T Cotton Bowl, Arlington (at Jerry World), 1/4, Texas A&M vs. Oklahoma
