Bill Allowing Guns In Schools, Churches Moves Through Legislature

It could soon be legal to carry concealed weapons into Michigan churches, schools, hospitals and sports arenas.

A bill that would wipe out most so-called “gun free zones” is speeding through the lame duck legislature, despite some vocal opposition.

“It violates our religious principles that you should try to resolve things with love not hate,”
:iagree: ; however, when that doesn't work, it's :fire time.

Isaiah 48:22
"There is no peace,” says the Lord, “for the wicked.”

PROVERBS 11:9
A city is happy when honest people have good fortune, and there are joyful shouts when wicked men die.

PROVERBS 17:11
Death will come like a cruel messenger to wicked people who are always stirring up trouble.

Is it just me or does that quote sounds backwards? It sounds like it is saying that it violates their religious principles to resolve things with love instead of hate.

Senate Bill 59 on Thursday, which tweaks the concealed weapons law by allowing gun owners who receive eight additional hours of training to carry their weapons in formerly gun-free areas, such as day care centers, schools, hospitals, churches and stadiums and bars.

There about 350,000 concealed pistol license holders throughout the state who would be eligible for the additional training, Harris said.

The bill sponsored by state Sen. Mike Green, R-Mayville, also states that schools, including public universities, and privately owned buildings could choose to prohibit guns if owners desire.

interesting approach to campus carry type laws

additional training ... like 2 classes of licensees.
1 can carry in gun-free zones, the others can't

like edging their way into getting rid of the zones slowly after later showing... look no massacres by CHLs who carried there ...

Michigan's Republican Governor today vetoed the bill described above.

Rick Snyder "killed the measure, approved by the legislature less than 24 hours before the Newtown killings, primarily because it didn’t allow day-care centers, hospitals and other public entities to opt out, according to a letter sent to the state Senate."

I don't know the details, but it seems amazing to me that the bill ever got to the Governor. Only one Democrat voted for it, and that evidently tipped the scales. This in Michigan.

Yesterday, Texas Governor Rick Perry said that people with concealed-carry permits should be able to take firearms anywhere. He spoke at an event in North Richland Hills hosted by the Northeast Tarrant Tea Party.

God Bless Texas!

Yeahbut, when questioned by the media as he was leaving the event, he said "local control" meaning they can "opt out" if they want to.

We already have that. That's no change at all.

These "leaders" will never learn. Gun free zones are victim rich zones and attractive shooting grounds for mentally unbalanced people.

Doesn't surprise me. I have a lot of relatives in Michigan and spent a lot of time there this summer. Snyder is less a conservative than an opportunist.
