Did I break a Federal law?

I was in a Hallmark store near my house the other day. At the back of the store is a U.S. Post Office! :shock:

It's run by an old man who I'm guessing owns the store with the old lady who manned the register up front.
When I left the store, I saw a sign for the USPS on the window, etc.

Was this an illegal place to carry?? It's a private, commercial store with a USPS in the back. I think I could make the case that as long as I don't cross the threshold to the actual Post Office section (where the employees only would be anyway), then I'm ok, but who knows? :confused5
To clarify, the Post Office is like a walk up window within the store. The window is there right by aisles that have gifts and cards, etc. My argument, is that unless I went behind the window, I'm still in the "store" and not on USPS grounds.

Any insight? I've never seen a setup like this.

No.

If you walked past a 30.06 sign you broke a state law.
Otherwise, no worries.

Not every post office is on federal property. That's generally the easiest rule of thumb: "Am I on federal property?" If "Yes", then you better be disarmed. :tiphat:

Good morning! No, no federal law broken here. But, let me give a piece of friendly advice, though I am not a lawyer, had you in fact violated state or federal law why would you want to confess it on a public forum? Just a thought.

Because my writing so,etching here wouldn't be enough evidence to convict. Forums aren't as dangerous, in that regard, as people make them out to be. People lie, post for friends, throw out hypotheticals, etc.

Might amend that to "Am I in a building on federal property" and/or "on CoE land". Conclealed carry in national parks -- outdoors -- is generally legal for us. http://www.nps.gov/bibe/planyourvisit/firearms.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Not just in buildings. As far as National Parks go, yes, but the parking lot at the post office or federal courthouse is just as off limits as the inside of the building.
