Bill Ruger's dead. Ruger makes pistols that hold more than 10 rounds, an AR15 that sells with 30 round mags, and just introduced a 25 round mag for the 10/22.

I can't really hold what a previous owner did 20 years ago against a company, although I know some people still haven't forgiven S&W for deals they made with the devil (or Hillary Clinton--same difference really) three owners ago.

Bill Ruger was a good engineer. He did some great things in advancing firearms technology. He has also passed on and the company, as previously noted, is now in others' capable hands. I own a few Ruger products and while they aren't fancy and don't have as much "cool factor", they are solid and reliable which is why I bought them. And when I purchased my SR9c, it came with both a 10 round compact AND a 17 round full-size SR9 magazine. Bill Ruger might not have intended many things to happen but what he intended is irrelevant now.

I had not read the original thread and actually came across the quote on another site. Searching revealed the other thread here. Thought others might find the read just as interesting as I did.

Furthermore, the comments are relevant to the post Sandy Hook debate. We need to be careful that those with our trust (our elected, NRA A rated politicians) don't make similar "compromises" in the name of keeping guns available. We must be ardently against all 2A restrictions, even if proposals come from gun manufacturers whom we regularly support.

Agreed. My intent was not to drag up history about Ruger, but rather to remind folks that threats to our RKBA can come from both sides of the aisle and in many forms.

Exactly! Who knows what promises were made in exchange for what in this last minute "Fiscal Cliff" debacle. I guess they'll pass it and then we may find out what's in it?

I get what you are saying and I thought about that, too. But the House still hasn't voted on any deal and the House is where the bills to spend money really comes from, not the Senate.

And that sounds so much like the famous Bill Gates quote: "640K ought to be enough for anybody". Bill Gates, of course, didn't have the vision (at the time) that the reality of the evolving world would, by definition, require larger capacity and throughput just to do basic computing functions.

This reminds me of the folks who think the 2nd Amendment only means muskets or other similar weapons, and not the evolving hardware that we have at our disposal today. We, too, need larger capacity and throughput in today's world, just to keep up with the evolving threat.

There is no doubt that Mr. Gates now sees things differently. I would like to believe that Mr. Ruger might also, if he were around these days to see the modern world we live in.
