One of the many delights of living outside the city (as long as he's not raiding the chicken coop or rabbit hutch) and I agree with Moby on the technique.

Years ago, camping in Big Bend National Park, my wife and I had one visit our camp site at the same time every evening for a week. It was a beautiful and unexpected thing. I looked at my watch, 7:15 P.M., month of January. Cold. For reasons I don't completely understand, I watched for him at this time the next evening and sure enough, he showed up at that time and continued to for the rest of our stay.

The first time, we were sitting in our folding chairs quietly reading by Coleman lantern light and with peripheral vision I noticed a flicker to my right. Without moving anything except my eyes, I spotted this soundless, gray Fox quickly sniff a number of the items we left out as he proceeded completely across our camp site and then back into the dark. We were delighted.

His visits would last about 15 or so seconds and then poof, he'd be gone.

Last February my wife and I spent our Anniversary weekend in a cabin in the Texas Hill Country. Every morning a small family of deer (looked like a doe and 2 fawns) would spend about 10 minutes grazing in the tall grass behind the cabin. One evening we were relaxing in the hot tub out back and got a shock. A deer had snuck up on us and was just outside the tub. Only wish I had my waterproof camera for that one.

Thanks! I have to give the credit to a great camera (Canon EOS Rebel), good zoom lens and point and shoot technology. I want to learn how to take pictures like that on purpose!

I hear you, got a Rebel for Christmas so I am just starting the learning curve. I've played with all the functions but when I need a quick shot I just go back to auto mode.

I am going to take a continuing education corse on digital photography next month.
