Houston City Hall - 30.06?

Can anyone advise me on whether I can expect to see any (illegal) 30.06 signage, or otherwise be prevented from entering City Hall w. my CHL & 'little friend'? I'm going to be part of a photo op this afternoon, not sure if I can carry or not.

Well, I wound up in council chambers during a council session, so no gun by statute. There is a sign at the metal detectors at the annex entrance that you can show your CHL and enter. But when I did so, they wanted to know where I was going. When I told them I was meeting the mayor, I was told I couldn't carry. Not so sure how I feel about that...

Uh, her. Annise Parker, famous for being first openly lesbian mayor of a major U.S. city.

I caught that innuendo, but has anyone had a ruling as to whether that is politically correct? ;-)

It's kind of intimidating to carry at city hall as you have a no illegal weapons sign and metal detectors. However you can carry, just not in any place like city council or planning commission or any other public meeting.

Lets hear how you did.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I always thought you could carry at public meetings, ect., as long as they are not posted 30.06.

Actually I think its a defense to prosucution that its not posted, not that you can carry if its not posted

Which is the same for hospitals, amusement parks, or church, synagogue, or mosque. It's pretty much a difference without a difference.

Actually it's not a "Defense", it DOES NOT APPLY. The law states
46.035(i) Subsections (b)(4), (b)(5), (b)(6), and (c) do not apply if the actor
was not given effective notice under Section 30.06.
