Why don't we invite all those lovely gun manufacturers to Texas so that they can do their business unmitigated?

I was actually thinking of placing an ad in the New York Times, suggesting that conservatives who like rifles, handguns, shotguns, hunting, fishing, cars, ample parking, motorcycles, big iced drinks, more freedom, bar-b-q, Mexican food, much lower taxes, more safety, and a much better standard of living, but lower cost of living, should consider moving to Texas.

Texas AG Tells New York Gun Owners Come to Texas http://nation.foxnews.com/gun-control/2 ... come-texas" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott’s has a message for New Yorkers who don’t like their state’s new gun-control measures. Move to Texas.

On Wednesday, New Yorkers in Manhattan and Albany began seeing two web ads, paid for with Abbott campaign funds, and designed to tug on their holster strings. According to The Austin American-Statesman, the text of one ad reads: “Is Gov. Cuomo looking to take your guns? Sick of the media outing law abiding gun owners? Are you a lawful NY gun owner seeking lower taxes?” The second ad reads: “Wanted: Law abiding New York gun owners looking for lower taxes and greater opportunity.”

Agreed, resistance to assimilation is futile!

It occurred to me that the two most prominent gun manufacturers in New York—Kahr Arms and Kimber—manufacture guns that come with 7 round (or less) magazines. I wonder if that has anything to do with the magazine limit as passed. Otherwise, I would have expected a multiple of 5 for semiautos.

I find it unfortunate that many folks think liberal New Yorkers move to Texas voluntarily. I'm quite sure most liberals that did come here did so rather "involuntarily" due to their employment, in order to keep their job/career. If you believe that Texas doesn't have a boatload of "home grown" liberals, you are denying reality. Look at our public schools, colleges and universities, and look at our liberal state legislators and the folks that elect them. The vast majority are home grown. If a New Yorker moves here voluntarily, you can pretty much count on the fact they are escaping the liberal la la land of New York, and do not want to see it replicated here. Look at all the famous democrats that have been representing Texas over the years. They sure weren't born and raised elsewhere. Texas was a blue state long before it turned red. The current change in demographics throughout the country has done far more to change Texas politics than a whole army of New York escapees will ever do, even if they wanted to, and which I believe they don't. MHO (yes I am one of them - the good ones ;-) )

That would be fantastic... hopefully some are already considering the move, if not to Texas, to some other friendly state...

Most of those homegrown liberals are just relocated yankees from generations gone by e.g. post civil war carpetbaggers.

When Texas was a blue state, the line of distinction wasn't D=liberal and R=conservative. Democrats used to stand up for states rights and limited central government.

And you'll find yourself more at home with most conservatives than otherwise. Yes there are people who label themselves as conservatives, and propagate hatred amongst the races, but no, they are not the majority. Nor do they represent the morals nor thoughts of real conservatives.

Moving for a job is a capitalist thing to do, so why are so many of them more socialist than the average Russian?

Maybe we should have a "prisoner" exchange with NY. We send them the liberals from Austin and get the conservatives from NY in exchange.
