"If there's even one life that can be saved, then we've got an obligation to try." - President Obama

Let's hold him to his own standard. Make your recommendations here... what things did the President just obligate himself to try on the prroposition that they MIGHT just save one life?
I was screaming at the TV: "Let a teacher, coach, or principal with a CHL defend themselves and their students while on campus. It could save a life!"
There's a million things we can come up with that he'd never agree with even though he set the bar there himself with his rhetoric today.

If he could stop kids from running with a sucker in their mouth, he would have prevented more deaths than he did today.

Ban banning things, and let nature take its course.
Of course, if you ban banning things, then you couldn't ban banning things...
OK, now my head hurts...

When someone says "if it will even save one life, it will be worth it", they are a politician or special interest group proposing something that they favor, but that is ineffective to the issue it is being proposed to support.
Politician proposes "A".
Logical person says "A" won't solve this problem and these are the reasons why.
Politician falls back on the "if it saves one life" argument.
Let's face it, who wants to be the jerk who says "no, if it costs billions of dollars, and thousands of man hours, and inconveniences million of people, it is not worth it to save one life"?
Anytime you hear anyone invoke the phrase "if it only saves one life", that translates to "I know this won't really work and is not relevant to the issue at hand, but I want to do it".

The President isn't alone on this. Every one of the Libs that I've ever talked to said the same thing:
1. If stopping the burning of coal saves just one life, it is worth it
2. If preventing more nuclear reactor from being built saves just one life, it is worth it.
etc.
My response:
If allowing just one person to save their life or the lives of their family with a defensive firearm, it is worth it.
