As reported in the Austin American-Statesman: http://www.statesman.com/news/news/crim ... -pl/nTykf/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Texas Firearm Academy owner John Lacaria. “I don’t think anybody should be able to sell firearms without a license.”

Casey Wagnon, vice president of Tex-Guns, largely echoed those sentiments.

Steve Rose, a partner at Austin Gun Liquidators in Round Rock: “I personally am not opposed to a background check on any firearm transfer. I don’t believe it’s the right of the government to ban any type of weapons except automatic weapons. . . . I would not be opposed to closing the loophole of selling individual to individual without a background check, and the mental health aspect as well.”

I can see why a dealer would LOVE to eliminate private person to private person sales and have every transaction run through a dealer's books - more money in his pocket. But if you're NOT a dealer, this attitude isn't really in your best interest. And as for the guy who thinks it would be OK for government to ban automatic weapons . . . :nono:

Just a little information for the next time you're planning to purchase a new gun, ammo, or accessory . . .

when I buy from a store/dealer, it's always from a small shop dealer. These guys know that many of their sales are made to folks that just sold another firearm to a friend/acquantance in order to fund the "new purchase".

Guess I know a new list I need anti-gun rights gunshops. Don't these idiots realize that one of the next steps will be to put them out of business. They are okay with a very temporary cash cow.

I guess I can cross AGL off my list. I used to buy there, and am surprised to see that response. I had thought better of the owner based on my conversations with him in the past. He had seemed to be a big 2nd supporter.

I wonder how many dealers voted for Obama knowing gun sales would likely be up if he won.?

I'm not sure I'd entirely trust the press, since they all have an agenda.

For what it's worth, I'm 100% in favor of private purchases being allowed. It's your property, do what you want.

I do, however, wish there could be something done about the "professional private sellers" at gun shows. The old guys who are always there, selling a number of "privately owned" firearms ALL he time (you know which ones I'm speaking of). This bothers me greatly because those specific people are operating in the shadow of "unlicensed dealers", and the ATF is too understaffed to pursue the matters. It creates a very unfair arrangement at gun shows between dealers that follow the laws and those that don't. I know there are grey areas, but this one issue annoys me greatly.

Not that gun shows may matter much in the future. We are seeing a LOT of manufacturers talking about moving to a "Universal Pricing Policy," which will put an end to a lot of "Bargain shopping" opportunities for new firearms.

Maybe it will put an end to marking up prices for CHL holders to subsidize LEOs.
