WWII Vet's Whose Houston Home was Vandalized

Mr Elbert Wood, who is a 93 year old WWII vet is disabled. He uses a walker to get around. His wife recently died so he is alone now. He was gone to a doctor appt when two teenage thugs broke into his home. They spray painted his home, his furniture, his wife's TV, and numerous other personal things. He is heartbroken that anyone would do this.

As soon as the story broke, 60-80 supporters showed up to help along with about 25 Marines. I don't know if there is any further help they may need, but if you are in the Houston area and simply want to pay your respects to this fine man, there is contact info in the article.

God Bless our service men and women. Especially those few we have left from The Greatest Generation.

:mad5 People (and I use the term loosely) who do stuff like this should be tarred, feathered, dragged through the streets, and horse whipped. Then you can prosecute them for their crimes. :mad5

Made to scrub every trace of the paint from every surface with dull toothbrushes on their knees while reciting "I will not disrespect a better man than me" 500 times.

You folks are clearly far more kind that I would be to them. Decorum and forum rules prevent me from elaborating. :waiting:

i had the pleasure of accompanying Michael Berry to visit Mr Wood today and chatted with him for a while while a huge group of marines, contractors, houston police and other fine people walked through the house, assessed the damage and started putting a plan in place to repair and improve the entire place. he is in good hands and i will post a video of the meetings today as soon as it's done.

One of his kinfolk told Mr Berry they were going to have a hard time getting Mr wood to not stay in the house while they were repairing it. Mr. Berry proceeds to tell him he will be well taken care of at the facility tomorrow and will have a couple fine looking women with him at all times. Mr Wood says " why can't we go today":

The initial story made me sick to my stomach. I'm grateful there are those in the area willing and able to help this man.

was VERY heartwarming to be there filming 30+ marines rip the guts out of Mr Wood's home yesterday. the dedication and respect these guys are showing by being there and doing this work is just awe inspiring.

as it sits, there is zero flooring in 90% of the house, all of his belongings are in storage and the remodeling is set to begin.

Thanks for the updates. I am so proud that he is receiving the help he deserves and those punks have not succeeded in bringing a proud old soldier down. God bless our men and women whose service to our nation allows us to sleep safe in our beds. :patriot:
