I have this gun on my wish list
I see Ruger has developed a 22 magnum version
Does a magnum version in this small of a platform have any benefits?
What's the general opinion of this gun?

I am sure it is a great little revolver for plinking and varmint control at close range but for sd the 22mag is not a good choice. Being a mag doesn't change the fact that it is a smaller diameter bullet. Most 22 lr or mag rounds don't even expand to 31. Caliber.
I guess my point is 22lr or mag doesn't matter to me. From a sd stand point I would only use a 22 for lower recoil if I had bad arthritis in my hands as many do. At that point I would just use a 22lr for quicker follow up shots (your going to need them) and a lot less noise.

I got one. Took it to the ranch last week and it worked fine. No failures.
Feels good in the hand and sights well. Not sure I like the Ruger style spring retraction loading on mags, but the worked (It was 19 degrees with a norther blowing and I was loading using gloves....).
Shot some 1 gallon cans a 30 yards. Not good on my part (with gloves, etc.) but good enough to keep them in the cans most of the time. That was with round nose bullets.
My 22/45 Ruger had some break in issues with similar mags when I first got it. I only had a $15 brick of (el cheapo) hollow points at the time. Moved over to the solid points and the issue went away after a couple of hundred rounds. Suspect it was a mag feed issue.

I have the .22 LR version. I don't see any point in the magnum because 22 Mag cost just about as much as 9mm.
