Prayer Request

All,

I've been having lower right back pain for the better part of a month. I didn't do anything to cause it that I konw of, I just woke up one morning and it was hurting. I figured it was just a strained muscle and would get better, but it hasn't so yesterday I finally decided to go to a chiropractor to see what they could do. He took an x-ray, and the results were less than desireable, and quite frankly a bit disconcerting.

Here is the x-ray:

I'm not sure what to do now. He said he could probably alleviate the pain, but that the curvature isn't correctable by really any means since I'm 40 years old. It's definitely not debilitating to the point of having surgery. The pain is definitely manageable. When I get up in the morning it's probably an 8 or 9 out of 10, but after I move around for a bit it's down to about a 2-3. It's been that way for a month. Anyway, prayers for wisdom and healing would be much appreciated.

You are in our prayers. Go to an orthopedic surgeon.

I know exactly what back pain is. I was injured in 1984. In 1995 I broke down and had lower back surgery. I was fine up until about two years ago and it has been constant since then.

I will be praying for you. As Mr. Cotton said you might want to visit a surgeon or a REAL pain management doctor not a "drug dealing" pain manager if you are dead set against a surgeon.

:iagree: I wasted years, in pain, listening to a chiropractor who only wanted to take my money and keep me on a perpetual treatment plan.

You need a real othropedic doctor. Now go.

And, since I see you are in DFW area, I highly recommend Texas Back Institute. They have several offices in the metroplex.

I would suggest a good neurosurgeon with it being the spine. I can suggest one in Irving if you want. Just PM me.

I pray I never need back surgery, but if I do, both an orthopedic surgeon and a neurosurgeon will be at my bedside! (And my two sons will be standing behind them with a .45 at the base of their skulls. Well, maybe I'll leave the sons out of it; they may make the guys with the knives nervous.)

Go here http://www.texasback.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. A buddy of mine had a really bad car accident 40 years ago. The hardware was breaking down in his back and he could hardly walk. They removed the old stuff and put in new titanium stuff. They had him up on his feet that night and released him to go home the next day.

They have really made a lot of advances in back surgery. My wife has Scoliosis and had surgery about 40 years ago to put a Harrington rod in her back to straighten it. She was kept in a hospital bed for a month and had to wear a body cast for a year. Today the same surgery uses an XLIF, but they have you back on your feet that night and usually release you in a couple of days. You no longer wear a body cast, just a brace. :thumbs2:

If you want the name of my friend's Doctor I can get it for you.

Prayers with you but I concur with recommendation to see back specialist. At your age there is no reason you should accept the pain.

you're only 40, it's not a problem. and back surgery has improved so much over the years. I learned so much about it dealing with my father-in-laws back problems. go to one of the places that has been recommended here, and use a doctor with good reviews, you can end up with a lousy doc even at a great clinic (I know  ew he was creepy)

G-d bless, I'll be praying.
