,,,,,,they don't come around often lately.
:???:
Anyway, I have been going through all these symptoms of anxiety, impatience, etc. like is described in here all the time.
Then I thought about 'patience'. It is quite a virtue. Matter of fact, it should be on the forefront when one carries a handgun.
OK, I feel better that I have brought that out.
Now back to the Real World, has that clock moved in the last 10 minutes????

OK, today I called and was told to email for the PIN. I did so and got the PIN later today online. When I checked it said "Processing Application" so I guess I am in the lineup.
They received the packet on March 20, I got my PIN today and got "Processing Application" today, 3/30/07.
Wonder how much longer :?:

Well, I have found out a big secret in this application process. Here it is: In my case I had a situation happen in a business I was in about 35 years ago. It involved my company repossessing a car and something to do with alleged missing items in car. Bottom line, charges were filed against me as the manager of the office. The short of it was the judge threw it out of court and had the record expunged. Well, little did anyone know, until now, that TDPS doesn't always acknowledge expunged records.
On my application I made note of it anyway and the problem was Harris County didn't want to go back past 1976 records since they are not on computer but in a dusty old basement on the old microfish system. Nobody wanted to check that far back and I ended up in the middle.
Due to me remembering someone in the Dist Clerk office I got some help. The letter showing a clear record during the time of the offense was faxed to DPS. Another wonderful girl there named Terry took the bull by the horns and my plastic is on its way to me.
In the beginning I spoke about the "big secret". Well it is a psychological test. They are all conspiring in the evil scheme to see if we applicants have the mental stamina to keep our sanity or go off the deep end and completely loose it while going through this process!
Anyway the plastic is in the mail and I am back to waiting again! Thanks for letting me vent!

I live in East Texas. The card was mailed yesterday. How long do you think I will have to wait? Not anxious or anything, ya know? Just with the price of gas it is like four blocks to the post office and don't want to waste a trip.

Do you have a library near you?
I know the wait is unbearably long. It took a full eight weeks for me to get mine in the mail.
I took that time to read every book I could get my hands on. I checked out numerous ones from the library, and even got a few on interlibrary loan. I couldn't begin to name most of them. One that comes to mind is the Concealed Handgun Manual (or something like that).
Just go to the library and start searching. The time waiting gives you a chance to mill over scenarios in your head before the gun is on your hip.

Also, put your holster (without the gun) on your belt and start going places. It gets you accustomed to having something on.
Start looking for 30.06 & 51% signs. Quiz yourself on which places are and aren't off-limits.

Don't know about East Texas, but mine arrived from Austin in three days. I'm in the DFW area.

That sounds much better. Thanks. ;-)
Speaking of holsters, and not wanting to sway off topic but, I bought a Galco X Project Shoulder Rig and it fits like a glove. I will carry the Glock 27 and this is a pretty good fit. NRA gets a piece of it, too.
Does anyone know if Galco carries a holster that fits this rig and handles the 1911 :?:

Sorry about being unclear on the post. I meant that CHL Lady told me she had approved my application and has sent the plastic card to me. She put it in the mail Tuesday. I was just wondering if I would get it here in East Texas by the weekend.
Thanks for your input.

It will depend on how long it takes their mailroom to get it out into the USPS.
It could take a full week. (like mine did) Reading your thread remineded me so much of myself, thank you for posting, brought a smile to my face. I was almost to the point of camping out at my mail box. ;-)

No problem there. The postmistress and I have a bet on when it is coming. She will call me when it comes in. Gotta luv small towns.
If it gets here by the weekend, she wins a coke. If I have to wait till next week, I get the coke. Possibly would have been a beer but we live in a dry county and besides, we both go to the same church.
