School playground?

I live down the road from an elementary school and me and the wife often take the little ones to play on the playground after hours. Is it legal to conceal there? I do not enter any structure, just the playground

As long as you have your CHL and there aren't any other school events going on you are okay.

I'm a little more conservative. Schools, at least to me, could be one of those "you can beat the rap but you won't beat the ride" situations.
Our Town has constructed concrete bike trails along the back edge of two different school properties. I ride my bike on that path for cardio exercise 3 times a week. In one case, the bike path, for about 50 yards, runs on the school bus "circle" around the school. At the other school, the teachers often use the bike path as part of their physical education area. I had a "discussion" with one of the principals once over whether I should be on the bike path during school hours. Considering the possibility of a repeat of that incident, I don't carry if I'm riding during the school day. It could be possible for recess to be considered a school activity and the phys ed could be another. After school hours, I'm a lot less concerned.
If you read a couple of the other threads, it would appear that not all LEOs have as specific of knowledge about the CHL laws as most of us on this forum. It could be an expensive lesson for me, through a lawyer, to help them get a better understanding. I'm prefer to avoid that cost.

Im going to correct one thing
As long as you have your CHL
are not there for any school events on you are OK
The same analogy as if you are at a zoo.
If there are school stuff there, you can still be there, as long as you are not with them.

Teamless, I disagree. There is a big difference between a school yard and the zoo. You may go to the zoo without reasonably expecting there to be any school sponsored activities. This is not true of the school yard.
I believe the first answer was correct and matches the law. You cannot be in the school yard with a pistol and a CHL if there are any school sponsored activities going on, whether you are there for the activity or just to walk your dog.

I would not risk going on a school ground with a gun

I agree with Tommyg. Being on a school yard/property with a legally concealed handgun is a risk as you have to be 100% sure there are no activities going on. As others have said there are LEO's who are either not 100% clear on the letter of the law and some who may just say let the courts figure it out. I avoid schools, but then again my kids are long out of school...
