Texas Lesson Plan Instructs Students to Design Flags for a ‘New Socialist Nation’
A curriculum system used across the state of Texas reportedly includes a lesson plan for 6th graders instructing students to create a flag for a “new socialist nation” using “symbolism to represent aspects of socialism/communism.”

The following was taken from the CSCOPE curriculum lesson plan: “Notice socialist/communist nations use symbolism on their flags representing various aspects of their economic system. Imagine a new socialist nation is creating a flag and you have been put in charge of creating a flag. Use symbolism to represent aspects of socialism/communism on your flag. What kind of symbolism/colors would you use?”

6th grade, eh?

I'd have been in trouble because I'd have been a stinker about something like that, even in 6th grade in the 70's.

I see things like that and have to shake my head. All three of my kids took part, more or less willingly in dinner conversations that sometimes focused on politics, economics and social issues. Now that they're 24, 26 & 28, I'm glad we spent the time teaching them to think for themselves. I'm saddened to see so many young (and some not so young) people who simply appear to have little or no capacity for independent thought.

This kind of thing wouldn't have flown in the 70's. We were not yet politically-corrected to death, and were still taught lessons about self-reliance and personal responsibility. My kids are younger, but old enough to know what's going on and draw their own conclusions, so we talk about these kinds of things and other current events and politics over our family dinners. Thankfully my boys seem to have their heads in the right place. :patriot: :txflag:

I recall reading about the trial of Jane Fonda for treason after her N.V.A. morale tour during the Viet Nam war, a war my father, and his father, fought in while I was but a baby. Oh yea, that's right, they blew that off too...

Fast forward 40 years later and with two wars of my very own, I'm STILL waiting for "them" to prosecute and EXECUTE the sorry son of a...er....the dirtbag that shot up Ft. Hood.

IMO, there should have been quite a few folks over the years strung up by the neck until dead for their communist activities.

Now, it is entirely too late, and I wouldn't be surprised if they don't start charging citizens with "treason" for simply voicing concerns about constitutional rights (firearms, searches, seizures, freedom of speech).

The dirt bag doesn't deserve execution. He deserves life without parole. He thinks of himself as a marter, and to him dieing for his belief would be the greatest thing to happen. Life in prison would be the cruelest punishment. I'm not against execution for murder, some people deserve it. I think execution should be used for people that murder but don't want to die themselves.

I think I would just submit this picture (below), or something similar... :biggrinjester:

I believe this is the pic that caused a high school student to get expelled...

Maybe you can get some vicarious satisfaction by reading Stephen Hunter's book: "I, Sniper."

MAY DAY: In 1889 the International Socialist Congress meeting in Paris fixed May 1 as the day to publicize the eight‑hour day because America's AFL was going to hold an eight‑hour‑day demonstration on May 1, 1890. Since that time May Day has become a major celebration in communist countries. President Eisenhower in 1955 proclaimed May 1 as "Loyalty Day."

Hmmmm...

What about a flag with a red background, a hammer, and sickle like the old Soviet flag, but instead of the hammer we have an AR15? I wonder how long it would take these commie piece of _______ teachers to start running around screaming that the child just made a "terroristic threat?" At which point I suggest that the child scream that the teacher made a "treasonous threat" about the violent overthrow of the U.S. government, given that every single communist revolution from the 20th century had its start in violent revolution.

(Edit: Oops. Pucker above basically just did this. ;)

I remember in the early seventies, there was the eco movement in full swing. I pitched a fit when a teacher flew an ecology flag in her classroom along side the American flag. It came down.

It seems to me the perfect symbol of a communist flag would be a firing squad.
