Misspelled name on DL

I have been lurking the boards for some time making sure I have everything in order to begin my class/application process.

I have a few questions.

1. My middle name is misspelled on my Texas drivers license. Will this cause an issue and if so what is my best course of action?

2. Is there any advantage to applying online before I take my class?

Thanks for the help!

First things first. Get the DL corrected.

I once got stuck at the license office behind a man (legal alien, with lots of paperwork) who had variations of his name on his assorted legal papers and was trying to change his DL to match one of the spellings. It was complicated, and complications do not mix well with the license office.

This is the kind of thing that causes problems with police, immigration, TSA, etc.

They don't handle simple things much better. My brother was forced to give up his TDL for "failing" the eye test. He's blind in one eye and had to save up for cataract surgery on the one good eye, He tried to tell them he'd read the limits and he was better than the cut-off. I had to drive him for 5 months. After his surgery he confronted them and with the facts that he could have driven daytime under 35MPH with his vision. (he only drives in town so he'd have been fine) Then to make matters worse another clerk told him he should have 20/20 vision not 20/40 since he'd had eye surgery and he couldn't get his license with one eye and 20/40 :smilelol5: ( It had only been about two weeks) I told my brother he should have asked what Med School the guy graduated from. After a series of conversations between a lot of folks who didn't know the standards. When they couldn't decide my brother produced a copy of the requirements to educate them. I would post the embarrassed smiley for them , but they were not. He of course had to pay another fee to get his license.
