If you are establishing residency in TX, you will need to go through the TX CHL requirements (application, class, prints, photo, etc).

Welcome to TX! :txflag:

CHL's don't transfer to Texas. You have to go through the whole process, just like any other newbie.

Oh, and welcome to Texas!

I figured as much but was hoping that there might be a short cut. For the record I'm a Texan who has been stuck elsewhere! I'm in the process of applying for job in Tx as it time to get closer to family, so not neccesarily headed home yet! I just recently got my CHL here and was just curious.

You'll find the CHL process much friendlier and faster in Texas. I just went through getting a permit in Louisiana. It's great being able to log on to the Texas DPS website and check the status of your app, even if it doesn't speed processing time. I was getting antsy in Louisiana and only knew the app was received because of delivery tracking.
