Sorry if this is already posted.
What are the key tips & advice for a face to face sell, buy, trade?
What should we do in advance and need to know?
Is there anything we should do in advance?
What should you ask from the other person? (Such as, CHL, bill of sale, etc..)
What should you look out for?
How do you know if it's a bad transaction? (If you should cancel the transaction)
Please feel free to add anything else I did not think of.

Thanks.

Edit: Yes, for me they will have to be CHL.

Personally, I choose to only do FTFs with CHL holders, so I'd ask to see that. If you aren't concerned about the buyer being a CHL, you might want to go the bill of sale route. I'd also meet in a public place like the parking lot of a store (Walmart, Target, Denny's, etc). Keep your situational awareness on high and if anything looks "wrong", walk away from the sale.

Bring a friend in a separate vehicle for back-up and set-up tactically. It is recommended that your back-up guy have previous combat & executive protection experience. :thumbs2: There's at least one on this forum that I would trust with my life.

I did a face-to-face deal a few weeks ago when selling a .22 pistol. Met in front of the largest grocery store in town, and yes I had a friend there in a different vehicle for backup.

The purchaser turned out to be a local cop, in unifrom.

Made the deal very comfortable.

I bought a P220 from a Sherrifs Deputy off this site. Have done more than a few buying and selling transactions here...everyone has been pleasant. If it makes you feel better, buy from those with more than a few posts. You can also check their post history.

Definitely sell to someone with a CHL...for piece of mind.

If possible, maybe even meet at a gun range and shoot it first. Unfortunately, there are some guns out there - especially semis - and some people who have them for sale for a reason. ;-)

I meet in the day time in a busy location, I've given a discount for CHL holders, as I prefer to deal with them. My size can be intimidating so I try my best to look non-threatening and happy (which I am).

I have sold a rifle and traded a pistol f2f. Both transactions took place at an indoor shooting range. All 3 weapons were inspected and had a box of range purchased ammo fired. The trade was with another CHL holder, we shook hands and went our seperate ways. I printed a bill of sale for the rifle, asked for and was shown a TX DL for ID and we exchaged rifle for cash.
I asked the range operator if they would have any objections, in advance, and range time and ammo purchase was suggested as compensation. Clean, safe, easy. I would be very hesitant to do a transaction in a parking lot with anyone who was not a chl holder.
