Four Alabama football players are charged with beating and robbing two victims and using the credit cards to buy snacks in campus buildings.

Pretty sad with young men with such bright futures throw them away by acting the thug.

I'm not a sports fan, and one of the aspects I dislike the most is the character of many of the people involved.

Character made worse by undeserved special treatment and exemption from following rules and behaving ethically as is expected of others. And that's why no one should be surprised when we find out something like the fact that Joe Paterno and Penn State officials covered for and facilitated a pedophile. You don't build character through participation in sports when you expect less of athletes, coaches, and officials.

There is not much difference between the social elites, government elites, and sports elites, no matter how old or what sport.

We need to understand that they are much better and more deserving than we are and are excused for their behavior.

Yep, it applies to all who don't have to play by the same rules as everyone else.
