Houston's Galleria was shut down at 8:15 tonight due to overcrowding. The picture does not show as much as others did I will try and find those. It was solid humanity. I'm not sure if it was legally overcrowded, but it sure was packed from the pictures. Started at the Louis Vuitton store. There may have been a concern on the part of the retailers that they were going to be looted with the large crowd.

All the hotels are full in the city. Traffic has been heavy all day long. It is because of the All Star Game. Apparently "stars" were tweeting things like "I'm going to the Galleria, see you there".

I realize I am really old, because I have never heard of half the people they are calling famous.

This has a better picture.

There is a simple test to prove that you are "old." Get a copy of People magazine. Cover all the words and only look at the pictures. If you fail to recognize anyone in the entire issue, you are officially old.

the galleria is a large shopping mall, it has over priced poor quality items with designer names on it all imported from china. I wish they would just shut it down permanantly

Here in SA, when I pass Tim Duncan shopping at Academy or in the aisles of the HEB, or when George Gervin is practicing at the driving range with other celebs, we just wave and say hi, good to see ya. This Houston thing seems, well, democratic and out of control. Sounds eerily familiar.

I remember after my Sunday morning Chronicle paper route, me and other Paper throwers riding out to there to see the cows where the Galleria is now, when we didn't ride through the Bayou to Hermann Park ... Later my girlfriend and her friend Emy stabled horses on Unity drive at Fairdale...off Hillcroft and Richmond/Westheimer area

My 16 year-old daughter was there yesterday afternoon until last night with about 15 of her "closest" friends. When she asked for permission to go, I asked where, and the Galleria didn't raise any huge safety flags in my head. Then I asked her who she was going with, and a group that large sounded safe.

I had no idea she was walking into that zoo.

But she got home safe and sound and was quite excited about how great it was. Had all kinds of pictures of people I didn't recognize on her phone. Yep, I am officially old.
