Just curious on what brand do the military typically use. Not sure, if the different military branches use different watches,

Does the military issue watches? They gave me underwear, socks, shirts and pants but never did get a watch.

When I was a young soldier we were issued wrist watches, especially in Korea. The last time I seen a military issued watch was around 1986. Every since then I wore self-purchased watches. I have seen the same type of watch for sale in VFW magazine, but they sure are proud of them now. I should have lost mine and just paid the $12 or whatever I would have been charged. I would sure like to have one now, for memory sake only...

As far as I know, the military doesn't issue watches. I was Navy SWCC, served with Army, AF, and Marines... never seen an "issued" watch.

That said, I wore one watch the entire time I served. After 6 years of service, and another year of post-military life it finally broke :( I need to get another! Most of the other guys wore something similar. G-Shock's were pretty popular.

'86 was the year I enlisted. I guess it's true what they say, "timing is everything". "rlol"

All I can remember was when Mickey's little hand was on the 0400 and his big hand was on the 1200, it was time for PT. Thanks a lot, Mickey.

I was not issues a watch. I guess I did not rate one. I purchased my own and don't remember what brand. It was a metal one with a dial and digital time. I usually kept the digital time on Dallas time and the dial on my time.

When my kids got in my new car a couple months ago, it doesn't have a digital clock. They said, that's one of those "old timey" clocks with the "hand thangies" on it. :biggrinjester:

How can I forget. All the black guys were laughing at the white guys as we left the barber. Said we all looked alike. Those were fun times.

I have spent some time substitute teaching in a local high school. One kid asked me, "What time is it?" I responded buy pointing to the analog clock on the wall. He then said, "I can't read clocks like that."

I didn't know how to respond..

There was a time when UDT/SEAL guys were issued Rolex Submariners, at least into the 1970's. I believe pilots got some sort of aviators watch. Back in the old days before digital, Rolex was the standard. Now, not so much.

My $30 Timex Ironman keeps better time than my Rolex Day-Datejust Oyster Perpetual. I have a Casio Pathfinder which synchs to WWV keeps better time than all of them, and has tides, compass, moon phases, altimeter, timer, stopwatch, biorythms and a bunch of other stuff I don't even know how to work.

I know the G-Shock series is popular with many on active duty now.
