Chicago Gun Laws Punish the Wrong People

Here is a perfect example of how draconian gun laws end up punishing the wrong people. A woman feared some one would steal her legally owned pistol while work was being done on her home. Fearing her new pistol would be stolen from her car, she took it cased and without ammo to work. The result? Her life will never be the same. No criminal intent. No criminal actions against anyone, but she will be punished severely.
At the same time gang bangers go on murdering each other and Obama calls for even more restrictive gun laws in his home town. We all know the decision to take it into her work was really a bad idea, but this was a new gun owner who apparently did not realize her efforts to protect her gun from falling into the wrong hands would put her in so much trouble. Her intent was to prevent crime, but the laws made the act of doing so a crime and there will be no quarter given.

What really stinks is that she can't just move to a better place and wash her hands of this. It is going to be an abatross around her neck for the rest of her days. Chicago is one sick place.

And while the murder rate has been decreasing nationally, it has been skyrocketing in Chicago, in direct proportion to each STUPID, ILLOGICAL, and UNCONSTITUTIONAL law they have passed.

You would think that the first rule of digging—"when you discover you've dug yourself into a hole, stop digging"—would apply here, but that rule requires a modicum of intelligence.....something which they are severely lacking.

isn't chicago still run by the mafia (and labor unions...or is that redundancy)? why would they want any law abiding citizen to be armed?

That's the conservative version. The liberal version is, "If you discover you've dug yourself into a hole, dig faster."

Letter to all Texas criminals, stay here and get shot or go to Chicago where you will not be bothered.

The message this sends is that you should not have a gun in Chicago. Yes, there may be some sort of twisted route that exists where you can legally have a gun (I think her gun license expires after one year, imagine keeping up with that) but the goal is to make sure that no one really legally has a gun.

They won't be. The American people (as a whole, not all) have lost their spine.

It's like the group of ship-wrecked people lost on a jungle island: the "charismatic" guy leads the group into the brush, machetes swinging, brush falling. The "thoughtful" guy climbs the highest tree he can find, to get a better view of their surroundings. Once at the top of the tree, he sees the beach, some boats, and a rescue party that has just landed. He shouts down to the group "you're going the wrong way; the boats and rescue party are over there". The group stops and looks at the "charismatic" leader. He says, "keep chopping, we're making great progress"....

So when the thoughtful guys gets down from the tree I recommend he leaves the group ASAP and save his own skin.
