Hospital 30.06 sign

I am sure that this has been covered before ( I did a search and 14,000 responses popped up). This may be a simple question to answer. A hospital that I go to frequently has a legitimate 30.06 sign at the front door. There are multiple entrances to the hospital though that do not have a 30.06 sign ( they do have no smoking signs). So, my question is this... does a 30.06 sign need to be at each door that the public uses or is it sufficient to have one sign at the main entrance? Many of these entrances are quite remote from the main door. I actually never even use the main door and not until I got my CHL did I ever even notice the 30.06 sign. Many visitors to the hospital do not use the main door. Does every reasonable entrance need a 30.06?
For whatever reason the post duplicated when I posted- sorry

Simple answer is each person has to be notified, so if you have seen a valid 30.06 sign at that hospital, then YOU are notified, and you no longer have the ability to legally carry there.
To answer the deeper question "does each door need posted" - nope

It is correct that I have been notified. But would it be a defense if someone that never used the main entrance ( and the only one posted ) mistakenly carried? Does a facility have to post at every entrance that the public uses?

There is no law that says every entrance must be posted. The law only says the sign must be displayed in a conspicuous manner.

The law does say however that one must have "
received" notice that the entrance with a firearm was prohibited. The law then goes on to specify how the owner may "
provide" written notice and specifies the form of the notice. Therefore I believe you could have a good argument that someone who came through the unposted door and did not see a sign did not violate the law.
- Because he was not "provided" written notice and/or
- Because the sign was, arguably, not conspicuously displayed in a manner clearly visible to the public if you could walk through the unposted door and never see it.

Take hospital out of the equation and look at some shopping malls.
Grapevine mills mall posts at the main entrance but not at the store entry point. A buddy who works for the PD has said that most officers will arrest you if you are a CHL and carry inside the mall even though you could very easily argue that you walked in though a door not posted. I have asked for a written policy from him and he says there is none. He also said that some officers will see where you park and what door you would have "normally" came through and make a decision to arrest or ask you to leave under no trespass.
Where I am going with this is that you will probably take the ride and may beat the rap but you are going to be out the $$$$ in the process.

Your friend is correct, there is no written policy. I made a Open Records request on this and was told one does not exist. I asked the Chief and was provided the same info that your friend told you about it being officers discretion.

The Grapevine Mills Mall situation has pretty much been

. The big giant signs they used to have posted weren't even correct. I don't know if they've changed to correct one's or not, but the Chief said what Keith B corroborated. I am unaware that they have actually arrested someone for violating the incorrect signs.

Agreed and I don't want to rehash it. My point was that there are other places that don't post signs at all the doors and there are LEO that know this and have it at their discretion on what to do about it.

I have heard different from my CHL instructor. At my local mall in the 3 main entrances they have the 30.06 sign. Now you know a mall has many public entrances and none of the store entrances have said sign. My instructor said if I was to walk in through Sears who does not have the sign then I could legally carry cause they are supposed to have the 30.06 sign posted at any and all public entrance.

Although you may be able to get the charge dropped, you still run the risk of taking a ride, wasting some time, and helping the economy by spending some money on a lawyer. Only you can decide if the risk is worth it to you. If you do decide to carry, make sure it is well concealed.

Just wish I could get a strait answer. If a mall has 20 public entrances but only 3 have the 30.06 sign posted then how am I supposed to know that I cannot legally carry if I never go in through the 3 posted entrances?

PC 30.05 (the basis for 30.06) states that signage has to be at likely entrances (not all entrances)
(C) a sign or signs posted on the property or at
the entrance to the building, reasonably likely to come to the
attention of intruders, indicating that entry is forbidden;

The only "straight" answer is:
1. Even though it is not posted at every entrance, you already know that it is posted. So by your own admission, you have been notified and you are not allowed to carry there.
2. Whatever police officer approaches you may or may not accept your story if you choose to carry anyway. It's purely up to the officer.
3. If the officer doesn't accept your story and arrests you, the prosecuting attorney or judge may accept your story and let you off.
Personally, I would feel comfortable going into any of the anchor stores using a store entrance but I wouldn't step foot into the mall. But that's just my risk acceptance level.
4. If it is well concealed, one could argue that theoretically none of the above matters unless you need to use it.

If I was caught then I would argue that I came in through Sears and there was no sign saying I could not carry. If you don't post up the legal sign at all entrances then how is future CHL holders supposed to know that they cannot carry? Im going to ask a few of my LEO friends today and see what they would do if called to the mall cause of armed CHL holder who went through a non posted public entrance.
