Misdemeanor deadly conduct... Is it disqualifying

I committed the crime of MISDEMEANOR deadly conduct (brandishing a weapon) back in 1995. From what I have read and my interpretation of the statute I should be ok. The statute says that a FELONY under section 42.01 is a disqualifying charge. Does anyone know if I'm in the clear. Any input on this will be much appreciated. Right now my background check is under review. I have my fingers crossed.

A Class A Misdemeanor disqualifies you for 5 years. You should be fine.
You will probably get a request from the DPS for a certified copy of the case disposition. You can get a head start on it by contacting the Clerk of Courts where the conviction happened.

Thanks for the reassurance J.F. ... I sent dps certified dispositions of the cases I had 20 years ago. I had a spell when I was fresh out of high school. I had a phase where i was pretty much acting like a real idiot. I also included the release from probation etc. As of last Monday I'm in the background check phase. I've never lived anywhere other than Travis County and they have everything there is to know about me in my packet. So hopefully it doesnt take to long. My NICS check is always delayed and always takes over 30 days to go through. I'm just grateful for the second chance.

Happens to lots of people when they're young some get caught others don't. Good luck.
