I didn't know where to put this, but here it is:

This was probably filmed where no GG's have guns. Chicago? New York?

Yea, probably would not be a good idea to have that here in Texas.

What a bunch of knucklheads! In Texas that would lead to a high propensity of being shot. Even if I can't carry a firearm I ALWAYS carry a blade it it does not take me long to have it out and in a usable configuration. I would have stabbed the "perp".

I had to chuckle when the bonehead tried to film the action on his phone-I think it's the last citizen in the film.

Another good reason to gather as much information as possible about a situation before letting lead fly in defense of another person.

I have always wondered how what fight-or-flight response would be to a situation such as this. I don't think I would shoot anyone but you would probably know that I am armed!

Coming upon a third part event like the will always be a tough decision..
And while we are never supposed to take the law in to ones own hands.. when that elevator door opens.. is it a mugging gone wrong? or a father choking out the man he just caught raping his daughter in the utility room? Perhaps a mugging gone wrong and the GOOD GUY has already turned the tables and is the chokee? Defense of a third party when you did not even see the instigating incident to to the event is always going to be a WAG situation.

Criminal stupidity.
I'd venture to guess that if someone tried that in Texas with 20 random sets of strangers, they'd get shot.
Idiots.

I am still amazed he didn't get a boot to the face or that fire exstinguisher smashed into his skull.

Hope I'm never in that situation. I will say if someone is asking for help and wanting you to call 911 and the other guy is still applying pressure with the rope, I'm willing to side with the guy asking for help. If I'm wrong at least my conscience is clear that I made the best decision that I could under the circumstances.

Of course there is the possibility the whole thing was staged and the witnesses were actors. If not could you imagine the legal ramifications if some old guy had a heart attack after opening the elevator? I can't imagine any entity knowingly allowing this on their property without waivers from everyone involved.

Always my first suspicion, especially when it's on the internet, described as "reality TV", or featured by NBC / ABC / or CBS news.

I vote for the whole thing being staged, witnesses and all. But stuff like this
http://articles.latimes.com/1996-02-18/ ... l-hospital" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.workforce.com/article/201111 ... tage-drill#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.securityinfowatch.com/blog/1 ... -gone-awry" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(Note that altho all three instances are in hospitals, they are not the same event -- three different "drills.")
makes me think that people are stupid enough that they thought having "real" witnesses was a good idea...
The stupid, it is contagious.
