All they had to do was ask him to show his military ID. If he didn't have it, then they could have called law enforcement. More politically correct, knee-jerk reaction.

I am sorry to say that schools are more and more being run by complete morons.
For some years, I have advocated closing the public schools, have the state give the parent (if they can figure who that is in any particular case, a voucher to be spent as the parent sees fit. From what I observe (and you can observe a lot just by watching!), the schools are little more than baby sitting services for prepubescent children and dating services for post pubes, carried on at hideous cost, having long since past from any useful purpose.
Th parents blame the teachers, the teachers blame the parents, the unions blame lack of money, the kids run wild, too much so, the output seems to be getting worse, according to those who try to employ or further teach these hapless victims of this sordid mess.

No, the insanity will never end.
Why aren't these people being charged with improper use of 911? Or at least thoroughly and publicly mocked?

Why? Is it illegal to wear camo if you're not in the military?

I'm going to guess he is security police. Those are the only ones I know that wear vest and holster on a daily basis stateside. So just like a civilian cop rolls out of the house with everything on* so do they.
*Well, if TV is to believed big city cops don't.

No, of course it isn't. Not what I was getting at. I'm going to
hope it was the body armor and holster (though yes, that is kind of silly) that got them all spun up. Thus, my comment about checking for military ID before they jumped the gun.

Based on the article and whatever degree of accuracy it has, I would call this a total overreaction by the School.
The school hadn't opened yet. The guy left when he was asked to. They shut down the school for the day and two other schools, nearby.
I need to wear a t-shirt to my sons school that says, "I am not wearing a gun" and see how long it takes to get arrested.

"I think most important thing is that our system we have works throughout entire district," Allen said. "That is definitely something that I hope our parents can see"
Bull. You detained an innocent, unarmed service man AND cancelled school. How is that showing the system works. Looks like a total fail to me.

Simply amazing.
I can not possible count the hundreds (possible thousands) of times I have gone to my sons schools in uniform over the years.. as late as 2011 when my youngest graduated HS.
drop off, pick up, see for lunch, pick up for a doc appt, school activity, early day out to go racing

You know important things..
Even a discipline meeting once,, all in uniform.. and never once were the police called...
Though, yes i'd have to say... a younger looking guy (just graduated HS I think from the story) showing up at his old HS in Mil uniform, with body armor and a duty rig on is, well not a great idea.
The "well a LEO does it" not really the same.. a LEO is recognizable as such, and common place in day to day events... a Guy in uniform and body army with a duty belt at a HS, who looks young,, not so common place.
But I agree, the reaction could have been anything from "Hey dude whats up?" by the first staff person to see him.... to a quite call to 911 and the local sheriff coming on scene and saying... "Hey Airmen whats up?", 2 second check of his mil ID card and a confirmation of reason for being at a HS he no longer attends and does not have kids at... 30 sec total time and it should have been a friendly handshake and have a nice day.

This is not simply bad judgement. It's systemic and intentional. It's all part of a process to condition children to fear guns.

Well, I'm doing my part to combat this. The only fear of guns my kids have is that I won't let them shoot when we go to the range.
Seriously though, since I'm now a certified NRA instructor, I'm working with some of our local homeschool co-ops to get some classes going. We have GOT to start training our kids in firearm safety and use (at appropriate ages/maturity level, of course).
