I was feeling a little homesick and decided to use the miracle of the Internet to import some fond memories :

This stuff isn't cheap at 10 bucks a pound. And no, I am not willing to trade for guns or Ammo.

And who doesn't think inflation is happening right now? $10 for bacon, $3.50 for milk, $1.79 for soda and .90 for a candy bars..... :banghead:

Aaaahhhhh! Another initiate into the mysteries of the Tommy Burger on this board? Praise the chili and pass the fries!

I remember Tommy's from when I was a kid. I think that the one I used to go to in Eagle Rock might be THE original Tommy Burger restaurant.

Seriously - I paid $6.99 for bacon the other night - just to make bacon bits for the baked potatoes. This is a travesty and has to stop. :cryin NOW! People unite against unfair bacon pricing. Or I'm going to :cup:

:txflag: TBM

Is this the place out on the left coast? If so, I've eaten there as well. It was in Long Beach by the airport and a golf course right next to my hotel. I remember being pretty good.

Close, the Colorado Blvd. Tommy's was number 2. The original "Original Tommy's" was the "Shack" at Beverly and Rampart. My mom used to buy chili fries, bring them home and add fried eggs on top! She'd probably wind up in jail for child abuse in today's California.

Wal-mart has bacon bit & pieces that is good for that and cheaper.

I bought a 1.5 pound pack of Wright brand bacon 3 weeks ago at Kroger for less than $8.
The same pack yesterday was $11.99. I skipped it.

I made my own bacon in the smoker last summer. I think it's time to check the Asian market again and see what the cost is today for pork belly.

Thanks for making me hungry.

ETA: Photos
I left the skin on... Crisped up nicely in the frying pan. YUMMY.

I actually got FREE bacon...once...granted it was only a slice...but still, from Central Market too! I needed one slice (for adding to my chili or some such other creation) and went to the meat counter and said "I can't believe I'm asking for just one slice of bacon..." The butcher replied "Not a problem, on the house too." :tiphat:
