According to a story in today's issue of the Galveston County Daily News, a 32-year-old white man from Alvin armed with a handgun entered a residence in unincorporated Galveston County near Dickinson around 7:45 a.m. Sunday. The homeowner, a 47-year-old man, initially cooperated with the alleged robber. When the robber became irate, the homeowner struggled with the robber. The robber was shot and fled.

A short time later, Alvin police stopped a vehicle and detained the suspect, who allegedly had the victim's wallet. The suspect was treated at the hospital and released to the sheriff's department.

As of Monday he was being held on a charge of aggravated robbery with $250,000 bond.

Police said the suspect did not know the victim.

Suspect shot by homeowner during struggle over the gun. Galveston County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating an armed robbery, home invasion.

About 7:45 yesterday morning, a white male suspect entered a residence, located in the 200 block of Shady Bend Court, an unincorporated portion of Dickinson. A homeowner heard a signal that a door was opening and when checking the opening door confronted the suspect entering his house. The suspect was wearing a white mask covering his face, pointed a handgun at the homeowner and ordered him to the ground. The suspect demanded his money, car keys and jewelry. The homeowner told the suspect his wallet and keys were in his bedroom. The suspect went with him to the bedroom where his son and wife were also located and retrieved the wallet. The suspect demanded jewelry which they did not have. At this point, the suspect became angry and came towards him. He defended himself; a struggle ensued over a gun, which discharged twice. The struggle continued until such time that the homeowner had possession of the weapon and the gun was discharged a second time. The suspect fled the residence in a dark colored Chevrolet on FM 517 in a unknown direction.

While deputies were on the scene investigating the robbery they received a call from Alvin Police. They had stopped a vehicle with a gunshot victim who was in possession of the victim’s wallet. The suspect had a gunshot wound to the hand and leg. He was transported by Alvin EMS to UTMB for treatment.

The suspect was identified as being Richard Charles Holcomb 32 of Alvin.

Holcomb has been charged with Aggravated Robbery. Holcomb was treated and released to the Galveston County Jail. He remains in jail on a $250,000.00 bond.

Where's that "no guns allowed for parolees" sign? Was it bilingual with big letter font for the visually impaired lawbreakers?

Robbery.

He was busted last year in Friendswood on suspicion of involvement in meth distribution.
Holcombe was initially charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. However, while he was in custody, officers received a delayed notification regarding a Parole Violation warrant issued on January 30. Holcombe is on parole for Robbery. Holcombe’s prior arrest record includes drug and weapons offenses.

Perhaps on his next Parole, he'll behave better; they arrested him/in custody had him in 2012 for a violation of an earlier parole but didn't keep him long.

I bet they will pull his drug dealer's FFL for not doing a background check when selling the convict his gun which was probably stolen.

I'm not exactly Judge Dread, but I don't understand why someone who violates parole doesn't server out his entire original sentence and the sentence for whatever he did to violate parole.

I don't know how many times I've heard of cases like this, or much worse.

Where are the charges for felon with a firearm? Give him extra 10 yrs for this offense.

I'm not a prosecutor and don't play one on TV, but IIRC; the sentence for second-offense aggravated robbery is already 99 years. The judge can take the aggravating factors into account during sentencing.

Rather than us supporting him for life, or letting him go on the repeat path...
can't we just buy him a bus ticket to Chicago, or New York, where he'd be safer and not get shot again, since guns aren't allowed for criminals or anyone there? He'd be better off and commit less crime with smaller soft drinks too, you know that's the cause.
