The nationwide shortage of ammunition has left many police departments scrambling to get their hands on the necessary rounds - with some even bartering among each other.

There is no shortage of ammo, they just don't want to pay top dollar for it like everyone else... and I can understand that, but welcome to free enterprise.

Maybe you can try to bribe your way out of a speeding ticket with a box of .40

I could use some..NONE at gt's yesterday... one needs to be proficient to do the job and it's pretty lame the lack of ammo.

Less messy than a dozen donuts. (I didn't just say that out loud, did I?)

No disrespect to the LEOs, but both lines are funny.

By no shortage, do you mean on Gunbroker at HUGELY inflated prices? Because when I go to the local retailers here in the Metroplex, the shelves are either near empty, or close to it, and when I look at the normal online retailers, they are out of stock on just about any common caliber, as well. I'm sure I'll be told that I should have bought a bunker's worth before the "madness" but some of us are working folks and just don't have that kind of cash. I bought what I could, and I'm rationing it out slowly for range trips. Not whining, just pointing out reality.

Maybe so, but the donuts are a whole lot cheaper...

Yeah, but a 50 rounds of .40, a dozen donuts and a large Starbucks might just get you out of murder.
And for those who haven't seen it

Hmm, might be wise to keep a box of 9mm, .40, .45, and .223 in the glove box. You know, just in case.
