My brother just returned from Israel - saw 18 and 19 year olds all over the place carrying real assault weapons. Also saw a lot of these T-shirts.
It doesn't appear that Israel wants or needs us to take the lead in their defense.
Who knows, one day Israeli soldiers may be liberating Americans from a dictator.

Here's hoping it's soon!

I don't think you'll find anyone in the IDF that thought that, ever. Having worked with some IDF troops while I was based in Turkey, they appreciated the backup, but they weren't asking us to fight their wars for them, in any shape, form or factor.

I can believe that. The Israelis I have known and worked with have been disciplined and squared away individuals with a very level-headed outlook on things. They have always been willing to do what was necessary to survive in a hostile environment. I think their attitude is that if they have backup, great. If not, they will just roll up their sleeves and do what needs to be done themselves.
