Ammo Shrinkage?

So, we all know you go to the store these days and buy bottled cokes for $1.49. Same as last year.....only problem is that they're 16 oz vs. 20 oz. You *THINK* you're still getting a good price.
Well, I bought a new toy a few weeks ago. HK MP5 A5 in .22lr. I've got some .22, but wanted some more when I take it out for it's inaugural test firing. I go by a local store on Monday and they have .22 on the shelf. The small boxes. I am allowed to buy 2. So, I pay my $5 and change and leave the store. Today I was in the neighborhood again, so I stopped by....picked up two more. Pay my $5 and change and leave.
I get out to my truck....and took out the two boxes to put in the bag with the original two. Something catches my eye: they are 40 round boxes. Seriously? So the ammo makers are doing it too?
I mean, yea, I'm grateful that it seems like you can walk in and find just about any caliber today back on the shelves...but I'm disheartened.
What's next, a .30-05?
*sigh*
