Pull and shoot to stop the threat (and improve the gene pool).

Full Metal Jacket
As to OP, from the video, I'm pretty sure that some of the little angels would have been engaged from the SUV had I been in it.

Even though there is a segment of socieety that would vehemently call for my skin, it does not matter the age, a gun is pointed at me, I gotta do what I gotta do or else quite possibly I die.
If my wife is with me, there is absolutely no question what is going to happen, BB gun or not. YOu want to play robber and victim, we are going to turn it into armed citizen and deceased criminal. Adult games have adult consequences.

A 10 year old? Probably grab it out of his hands and pistol whip him across the face. Much bigger than the kid in the video and I would probably not feel comfortable trying to disarm them and have to use another measure to stop the threat.

From the story, it sounds like they were "playing" a game. No shots fired, nothing taken, even pointing the gun at a group of males and then joining that group as a member. They have what they perceive to be a toy and are playing with it. Dangerous, stupid game to play, much like the knockout game. Those games get people shot and killed. Unfortunately, even if it is a ten year old behind the trigger, you could still end up dead. With no way to know the gun was fake, I'm looking for cover and possibly firing if I am on my own and feel my life is in danger. If my family is with me, no doubt I am working to eliminate the threat. I can't take the chance that it might be a realistic replica. As said in a previous post, the easiest way to avoid the problem is not be in that area where I would guess everyone has to "man up" at an early age to prove themselves, resulting in these kinds of games.

Reading some of the comments here, I would hate to see them re-posted elsewhere to make gun owners look like they feel zero remorse for being put in the position of having to shoot a minor who engaged in pointing a gun at someone. The kids were 100% stupid and playing a dangerous game at best. At worst, it was a lucky day no one was killed and they should be arrested. The article points out the "gun" was likely a toy or a bb gun. Confronted in real life by a kid doing this, I hope the members of this board could judge accurately from the situation whether deadly force really was called for. Either way, I for one, would be saddened beyond words if I had to fire to protect myself and it meant the life of someone young enough to be in middle school.

with your sympathy. But I cannot agree with the assumption that the youngster had a toy gun in 1 second.
And I assume you do not like my post above. Yes it sounded crude and I meant it that way for a reason. My life.
Are you suggesting that you are going to wait till you are shot before you take action on a person (minor or not) with a gun (real or not) pointed at you?
If you are, then I suggest you re-evaluate your purpose for carrying in the first place. And I hope you are not teaching this thought process to your CHL students. The decision MUST be made long before you face the encounter. I have made mine and prepared to carry it out if/when necessary.
50 years ago it was different than today. You have to consider today's climate which includes a 17yr old killing a Police Officer and setting off a Bomb in Boston. Just because they are young, does not mean they are non lethal.

Many police officers are faced with this situation. Shoot, don't shoot. Toy gun, real gun. Most instances I've seen or hear of, they don't hesitate. Yes, I would feel bad if I shot a kid with a toy gun, but I would feel worse if shot by a kid with a real one. I just pray that day never comes.

Having had a 10 year old, an old woman, a young mother and many others point weapons at me... I know what I will do...
Evaluate the threat, and shoot, move, communicate.. It sounds like a military ting and it is,, but it applies at Wal-Mart as well as Afghanistan, Iraq, Panama, Haiti an other places I’ve been sent to.
