NEW ORLEANS – Police are searching for a suspect in an attempted armed robbery that was stopped by the victim grabbing the gunman's shotgun, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Around 5:05 a.m. Saturday, the victim was walking in the 1900 block of Burgundy Street when he was approached by the suspect, police said.

there's a video. I think even if i was armed i'd do the same thing as the victim. the perp put a shotgun inches from a guys face.

When it's that close, sudden, vigorous and fluid action has a real good chance of beating reaction.
Follow through is really important because your assailant won't be amused.

There's a lesson there. If you're gonna use a shotgun for self defense, don't get too close to the BG.

Also a lesson learned that you have to be situationally aware. The victim was walking around with his face firmly planted in his phone with no awareness whatsoever. Good switch from white to red, but he should have been in Yellow and then Orange when the man approached him.

This video was a good example of something to be aware of when confronted by a BG with a weapon:
Guns can shoot you only when they are pointed at you.
If you can put some quick body English into sweeping the BG's gun to the side, and keep it from pointing at you,
you have a chance to headbutt the BG or push the weapon into his face hard, or whatever seems to work at the time.
