Routine traffic stop - Graphic video

That is a term I hate - there are no "routine traffic" stops. This video is graphic. Towards the end it sounds like male approaches and asks if they are ok and says he has a pistol. If that was a citizen :thumbs2: I also like his careful approach to the wounded officers. Suspect is WHACKO.

I am glad the officer prevailed. The officers were outgunned and they won the firefight.

The Middleton Police Chief is now catching grief up in Ohio for saying at the press conference that all AK-47 style rifles should be banned form the streets.

When evil people perform evil acts, it is easy to have an instinctive reaction to prohibit something, but reducing the liberty of law-abiding peoples is never the correct response.

That is a bad comment. They should ensure the officers have semi auto ar15 patrol rifles in the front of their cars if they do not already.

I wouldn't call that a firefight. I'm pretty sure I would win if the other guy threw his hands up and said "kill me"
That was suicide by Cop. He could have achieved that without firing at the Officers though. Seems like we're seeing more of these psychos act out lately. As if the thin veneer of civilization is starting to disappear.

I completely agree.

One of my 1st cousins visited me a couple weeks ago to do the MS ride from Houston to Austin. He is a Cambridge MA police officer, the same Boston suburb where the MIT cop was murdered by the jihadists.

I made some comment at dinner about AR rifles and he flabbergasted me when he said none of the officers in his force are allowed to have rifles in their cars. He said only the shift sargeants had a rifle.

I didn't want to offend him, so I dropped the subject, but I was truly irritated that political correctness run amuck means he is not able to utilize the most effective strategies to protect himself.

I saw an article about this somewhere just the other day. Some local residents were trying to drum up support and money to buy patrol officers ARs so they could have them in the car.

In case you missed it in the OP's link to this story, click on the "evidence" link at the
bottom of the story. There are 13 photos of evidence.

I believe the female LEO was the driver. By looking at the closely spaced bullet holes in front of her seating
position, I can't imagine how she got away with only a hand wound and a thigh wound.

http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ss ... efiel.html

The above link has a clear photo of the 42 year old BG.

**************************************************************************************************************************************
We know the BG shot 33 rounds of a 40 round <drum/mag?> out of his AK-47.

The male LEO fired 29 rounds, but I found no mention as to what his gun was. I assume a pistol.
If he had a 15 round 9MM, he would have had to reload once.
If he had a 12 round .40, he would have had to reload twice.
Anyone come across what the LEO was shooting?

SIA

If he was carrying a Glock 22 the standard mag holds 15 rounds of .40. He would have reloaded once.

That article said semiautomatic, but that sure seemed like full auto to me. What do you all think?

Sounded like the rate of fire was too slow to be a full auto?

Think so? Wow, he was pulling that trigger pretty fast then. It looked like he got of 10-20 shots in just a couple seconds.

How in the world shooting from such close distance with AK rifle and his fire was not effective. He wanted to die by cops fire, a suicide or if after he was shot he just wanted to die rather than spend his rest of his life in jail. All what I say, he never shouldered a rifle and he was shooting from the hip. I also heard shots before he dismounted from his car. He was shooting? :headscratch :headscratch

It looks to me like it was not his intention to kill the Officers. It appears several rounds hit the pavement and then he was firing into the engine block. That was a fairly busy street. Where did 20+ rounds from the Police Officers weapon end up?
