Freeze! Keep your hands away from those seeds, or I'll plant you where you stand.

This must be being driven by the Cannabis growers wanting fair treatment.

According to the article:
As you might suspect, this move is the "final solution" of Monsanto, DuPont and other seed-domination corporations who have long admitted their goal is the complete domination of all seeds and crops grown on the planet. By criminalizing the private growing of vegetables -- thereby turning gardeners into criminals -- EU bureaucrats can finally hand over full control of the food supply to powerful corporations like Monsanto.

How about the evil governments who are passing such laws? I wish I could say that this article has not plausibility. But in our world today, I no longer believe that the things that would have been impossible a couple of years ago are. Still, I have to scratch my head about evil duPont seeking world seed domination.

Companies like Monsanto make terminator seeds with the express purpose of preventing legacy seeds from being used --as obviously this will reduce their revenues. They've taken legal action against farmers when Monsanto seeds have been blown by the wind onto their farm and they refused to pay Monsanto for the privilege. Their first targets have been third world countries like India where they have bribed government officials to force farmers to use their terminator seeds so that they have to buy all new seeds each year. This practice has driven some farmers to penury and suicide.

They don't need serial numbers. They DNA type the plant.

Edited to add:

BTW, here is the actual regulation: http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/health_consumer ... php_en.pdf

I don't know this for sure, but I heard someone successfully sued Monsanto because their seeds "tresspassed" on their land.
