Gee, as a gun rights supporter, I feel so much less belittled after his apology

I'm not a twit, so I can't access the entirety of the twitter back-n-forth between these two ... if anyone has ability to post it here, I'd be interested in reading it (perhaps the gun rights supporter deserved it? but I doubt it).

The city of Austin has the government the voters deserve, no different than the people of CA have the government they voted for.

Most bigger city police chief's are politicians first and peace officers second. They were, in some cases, ones who couldn't function well on the street, were never on the street, or forgot what it was like to be on the street. They say and do whatever is politically correct and most are very liberal in viewpoint to get where they are. I could care less what the Police Chief of Austin Texas or most other big cities think about me or my opinions. A good example is to compare the National Sheriff's Association to the average members of the Texas Sheriff's Association. The National group is far more liberal and their deputies are usually the ones standing behind this administration as window dressing for their next grab at our rights. I was a peace officer in Texas for 35+ years and hold a Master Peace Officer certification. Their opinion is no better than mine.

I have been following that. Cracks me up. As I always say, I have issue with the chief / sheriff being able to get political in uniform, but the rest of us cannot per policy. At least the sheriff's are elected so the people can vote as they see fit the next election, but not for the chief. They serve at the will of the council.

I also get sick of all CA cops being lumped into the liberal mess because of these guys.

Yes, but they can express theirs in uniform to the press, and you get to express yours in civies as an individual citizen. There oughta be a law against that.

Police Chiefs in cities like Austin have to be politicians first and cops second or else they'll lose their jobs. Austin is controlled by the looney leftists to much too great an extent.

Austin can't find a suitable candidate for Chief from their own department or anywhere in Texas? That must really incent the Austin PD to strive for promotion.

He'll be a guest on a patriot radio show telling how he has no designs on draconian gun control laws and is for the "common man" to be as well armed as the authorities, then he'll have his little lapdog city councilboy Mike Martinez get up in front of a gun control rally and taunt the opposition by promising registration and bans for the city of Austin.

That Mr. Martinez is able to "taunt" the opposition with impossibilities under Texas law says more about the opposition than it does about Mr. Martinez.
