Robberies always make me think about the times I don't carry and what the best response is regardless. Or course, situational awareness is always important...
Is there a time to comply with an armed robber or is fighting back (and being armed) the best response?
Man shot in the head in apartment complex parking lot...
Approx 11:50 p.m. Sunday at an apartment complex parking lot Dallas Police found a man who’d been shot in the head... St. Francis Avenue near S. Buckner Boulevard.
==============
SNIP [The 27-year-old victim told police he’d just pulled into the complex’s parking lot after work when a black male standing about 6 feet and weighing around 170 pounds approached him and said, “Give me all you got.” The victim complied, handing over his wallet (which contained $20, according to a police report) and the keys to his ... vehicle. ]
==================
According to the crimeblog the victim was shot after he complied with the order to “Get on your knees and put your hands behind your head.”

This is a good example of why compliance is no guarantee that you won't get shot anyway. I am not going to leave the choices for my future and health in the hands of some scumbag already demonstrating poor judgement.
Rather go down fighting than on my own terms than be a victim helpless to someone else's terms.

When you comply, you are gambling on the good will of the robber, but it seems to me people with an abundance of good will don't tend to commit armed robbery.

Wow, that is terrible! I agree that complying isn't anywhere near a sure way out of a situation safely. I think I'd rather pull the 'ol "my wallet's (gun's) in the console" move, and take my chances with that than being shot in the head execution style.

There is an Old Roman Proverb:
Is it better to be a Lion for a day than a Sheep for 100 years.
Fight.
Just my .02,

"Give me all you got."? Right now, all I got includes 27 .380 cal. Golden Sabers from my Beretta Model 84, if you include the extra magazine. Probably wouldn't waste that many on 'im, though.
The headline is misleading, though. The shooter already had the $20 - the victim was shot for meanness.

This is why I carry just about everywhere now. Compliance means nothing. If you are going to give them the wallet fine...throw it and draw. If they come one step at you fire until the threat is no more.
Better plan not to let anyone get that close to you that you don't know pretty well.

Frankly, I'm more concerned with knives than handguns (unless i see a handgun of course). Someone can be on you from 10 feet in a split second and attackers don't usually miss with a knife.
Keeping alert and keeping a sale distance can be a challenge in crowded situations. I no longer seek the activities or late nights that raise risk. But, this victim was entering apartment parking. Don't forget self service car washes can be among the riskiest locales...

That cuts both ways, no pun intended. There are many places good guys can't legally carry a gun but we can carry a 4" fixed blade. A draw cut to the inside of his forearm can be a very effective disarm.

Presently the ammo in my gun usually out values the cash in my money clip. I'd rather give my money than use up valuable ammo. lol
Kidding aside, Jeff Cooper put it in perspective... decisive, aggressive, speed, ruthless, among others...

I'm certainly not opposed to compliance as an option to self preservation but you better believe I'll be looking for an opportunity if needed. No way I'm ever getting executed.

one thing that is odd is the description of the perp.
6 feet tall 170 lbs....
that dude was bone skinny
i am 6'3" and once after a long stressful deployment i weighed 190 lbs, i looked like a pencil with legs.
shameful this happened,
