The good guy had a .45 and shot the knife-wielding attacker multiple times, in the back and buttocks.
The picture in the link is of a 1911, but it's not mentioned in the story if the GG's .45 was actually a 1911.

That was the good part. The GG, tactics-wise, didn't do the right thing since he left the safety of his house to wander
around outside looking for the threat. If the BG was faster, or there were multiple BG's, the GG could have been ambushed.

Interesting article. Wearing a mask is not good. One part of the article seems to conflict. If the guy was lunging at the home owner, why was he shot in the back and buttocks? Either lousy reporting or not the whole story.

Of courese more facts may come out but I can imagine how someone lunging with a knife gets shot in the back. Assume he lunges, which even if the homeowner is cautious, must still startle him. He pulls up and shoots, missing on the first shot(s), the guy turns around and starts to run as the homeowner is still firing.

So that's a possability, giving the shooter the benefit of the doubt. Pure speculation.

I am in Brunswick- St. Simmons Island about 6 times a year. A sleeper community. It goes to show that you cannever let your guard down even in a small town.
