One student from my class said that when she got her finger prints done, they also did eye/pupil digital scan. That is new on me.... anyone else hear of this? She is an educated nurse, so I don't think she would misunderstand.

When I asked what they were doing I was told that it was to measure exact distance between the pupils for facial recognition.

Yeah, when the photo is take you actually align a couple of +'s on the eyes. Either they told her they were doing a pupil scan (false), or she saw the +'s and assumed that was being done. I would bet the former and the fingerprint tech was either pulling her chain or trying to sound like a big shot.

Most photo ID systems now days utilize a calculation based on eye location to automatically crop the image for storage.

Nothing more than the software placing marks on the eyes and faming the image for the operator to approve before saving.

If it were a retina scan, you would have placed your face up against a device for scanning, similar to an eye exam
