I'm part of a worship team, playing in three services today....at 9:00 a.m., 11:15 a.m., and 5:00 p.m. I'll be celebrating my Father's day. I don't think that my wife and son have anything special planned for me, and I'm OK with that. But thank you for the sentiment.

Sounds like good plans for this day . RoadRunnerTR21 I'm happy for you that you still have your father , my dad went to the Lord in 1986 , he is missed .

My childhood was full of hunting , fishing and enjoying running the creeks exploring all encouraged by my dad . Shot my first coyote when I was 13 , used a Weems All Call to bring him in . Dad and I decided to make a scull mount to commerate the occasion . We were drinking coffee at the kitchen table and had the coyote head boiling on the cookstove in a big metal Folgers coffee can , can was a little small so we had to flip the head over every so often . We thought mom was going to be gone for a while but she showed up and wanted to know what smelled so bad , we told her . She was pretty mad and told my dad ; Claud ! I dont expect much from him (me) but I expect you to have better sense than this , where upon she stormed out of the kitchen . Dad and me drank coffee and talked about the intolerence of women . I have many good memories of my father . Oh ! still got the skull turned a little bit brown now .

Thanks chuckj and a very happy Father's Day to you as well!

My day will be filled with church, a brief kayak outing and then a family dinner with the in-laws.

My Dad is in the DFW area and I will call him sometime today and make sure I thank him for being a wonderful Dad.

Happy Father's Day all! Mine has been perfect so far. My son gave me a very nice, soft-sided pistol case for a range transport. My daughter gave me a personalized Mrs. Fields chocolate chip cookie the size of a large pizza to eat at the range. And my wife gave me a couple of awesome, new golf shirts to wear while trying to "shoot" birdies! Everything is gun related...

We will have lunch in a bit with my Dad (and Mom), as my wife's Father passed about 12 years ago. Her Mother will attend, so that's awesome.

Enjoy YOUR day, Dads!

I spent my Father's Day aboard a flight from Singapore to London. But when I get home on Friday, I get three full weeks with my family (including the 4th of July, and my daughter's 5th birthday)!

Beiruty, I believe your photos below have convinced me it's time to buy her first .22 rifle (pink, of course).

My wife and son and daughter in law asked me after the 2nd service if I wanted to have lunch with them at Peace Burger. I thought, wow, the kids are stepping up!

I paid.

I smoked a pork shoulder Saturday to serve the family on Sunday, and then Sunday also smoked some ABTs (Atomic Buffalo T u r d s , thats really what they're called) and smoked baked beans. Plenty of beer and for dessert some home made vanilla limoncello. All the food was a big hit. My greatest joys in life are serving food and people loving it. Only little scraps leftover to eat today. Such a great night.
BBQ-View:
Small-ish pork shoulder, with some spicy rub I found that also includes coffee. Really delicious.

ABTs: Jalapeno, creamcheese (mixed with a little sugar, chili pepper, and shallots), a lil' smoky sausage, wrapped in bacon and smoked for 3 hours.
Smoked baked beans: Bush's Baked Beans, red bell pepper, onion, jalapeno, mustard powder, ketchup, brown sugar, and pineapple chunks. Smoked for 3 hours.
Image

Limoncello: zest of 10 lemons and two vanilla beans, soaked in everclear for 4-5 weeks. Strain it, then cut it with 3 cups of simple syrup. So the everclear which is 190 proof, gets cut roughly in 1/2, so the finished product is 95 proof I think? Its DELICIOUS. Super sweet, nice and refreshing after a heavy meal.

Absolute best part of the night was putting my 16 month old little boy to bed. Because of having all the family over he went to bed 3 hours later and had also skipped his naps... he was a mess. He was so upset but I was able to rock him to sleep for the first time in almost a year (he's 16 months old now and NEVER falls asleep while being held).
This is only my second Fathers Day and I Love it so such. Being a dad is great!
