conflicting info

I've never seen so much conflicting information for a state-issued license. My husband and I have completed our CHL course, been fingerprinted, completed the online application and paid the state fees. Our instructor told us that we did not need passport photos and that the state would use our drivers license photos. BUT - the checklist on the online application shows 5 items required to be sent, including CHL-6 Form (Photo Holder/ID Signature) and 2 passport photos. It also says to send everything at one time. So does anyone here know if the CHL-6 and photos can be omitted? I'd really like to get this right the first time. TIA

Welcome to the forum. :tiphat:

If you want them to use your existing Texas drivers license photos, just write 'Use existing Texas DL photo' on the top of the CHL-6 form and send that in with the applicaiton and other required material. No need for passport photos then.

Welcome to the forum. Glad you found us.

You are getting accurate info, DPS is just slow to update the forms and checklist. On your CHL-6 form write "Use Driver License Photo" on it and send that in. In speaking with DPS, they actually prefer to use your DL photo as it is formatted and ready to insert in your license.

Thank you both for quickly clearing that up! Now I can mail our paperwork and get in line for our processing. :clapping:

I actually sent in the pictures that our instructors took for us during our class and they used my DL photo anyways... There was nothing wrong with the photos I sent in. Doesn't make much sense, but I'm not complaining because I am just happy I finally received it.

I hope all goes well for you. Good luck!

Email the paperwork. Gets there faster and you maintain a copy in case they lose it.

If you mail it via snail mail, it takes them a week or two just to open the mail.

Yes, you can go here and upload all your files: https://www.txdps.state.tx.us/rsd/contact/default.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Just select CHL and then fill in each field and select the files.
