Granbury Shootout

Looks like a traffic stop turned bad. WFAA is reporting multiple 'assault weapons' with high capacity magazines on the scene (that actually look like at least one was used by LEO's). According to the anchor and the chopper reporter guy's cooperative investigation efforts, the suspect was also armed with a .45 ACP 'revolver' as well. It was placed next to the yellow evidence plastic 'casings'. How they determine all of this from 500 feet, I don't know.
In all seriousness, 2 LEO's have been wounded, bad guy dead. Prayers for the officers.

Have a close friend whose son is on the Granbury police department. I was able to find out he was not the officer involved. Prayers for the officer and deputy who were shot. Hopefully their wounds are minimal and recovery will be quick.

I am just now watching the coverage, and HOLY COW!!!! The shootout happened literally right outside a restaurant owned by a guy who lives across the street from me!! I didn't even know Gary owned a restaurant in Granbury. He owns one here in Grapevine. Anyway, I just watched my neighbor being interviewed on TV. Weird.

News I read says one officer is critical with a head wound. Praying for the officers and their families in this tragic time.

When they write like this, who can tell what really happened?
After McCommas shot the deputy, who fled toward Granbury in a white Chevrolet van, officials said.

So assume my 17 year-old daughter was sexually assaulted by a 49 year-old man, and then the man shows up at my doorstep.
I believe that I would need to "prevent the other's imminent commission of ... sexual assault" and that I "had reason to believe that the person . . . was attempting to enter unlawfully and with force" my occupied habitation.
It would have never reached a shootout with the police unless I did not prevail.
Anyway, changing gears, my prayers to both officers involved.

It's obviously a terrible situation, with two officers shot...one in critical condition with head wound, but the way the media reports it, just drive's me nuts. Just listened to WFAA reporters agitatedly talking about "the terrifying ARSENAL of firearms and ammunition, Mcommas had in his house...up to a DOZEN guns...some long guns and some handguns, along with TUBS of ammunition...as many as 20 CASES of bullets...so many guns and bullets that it took the officers HOURS to load it all up...AND he was known to have sold weapons at GUN SHOWS!" The sensational reporting conveyed the impression that anyone who owns a dozen guns and keeps a store of ammo on hand for them is a time bomb waiting to go off. I suspect most of us on this forum could be portrayed in the same light.

Very sad news. All because a child predator didn't like the fact that he got caught and was going to have to face the consequences. I can't really imagine what it's like to be in the shoes of a LEO when you arrive at a disturbance call. They have no idea how it's going to turn out. May he rest in peace.
