While we have been on the subject a lot lately about officers shooting dogs, here is a good story. Make sure you watch it to the end.

So ya,, I was yelling at the monitor.. " Cut the wire... cut the wire you soft handed weakling,, CUT THEWIRE..." And he did..

Good LEO, Good boy.. Have a cookie...... and share with your new partner (though you might want to have him sit right seat for a bit, you know check ride and all that)

:tiphat:

Nice find Keith, having just rescued a pup sentenced to die in a shelter two weeks ago... .. Now a full fledged member of our home .. Im a bit of a softy for dogs..... basically, I like them better then most people. So i can relate to your video find... Thanks

Folks are quick to send off threatening, demeaning and lengthy emails to citys, states and other governmental leadership when the see, or even read about an officer doing something wrong (perceived or real)

Please join me if you will in sending a simple note to Officer Nick Sheppard for a job well done.

I think it's funny that his last name is Sheppard. Wonder if his ancestors were from Germany?

They weren't his cutters, they were hers, and they were dull.

Really? 90+ views in a little over six hours since being posted wasn't enough for you? Or are you referring to the lack of comments concerning a video that's over three years old, one that many people have likely already seen (it's been viewed over three million times on YouTube alone)?

Personally, I liked it when I saw it for the first time three years ago and I still like it, but I wonder if, perhaps, we can find anything similar that's a bit more recent.

Simply no way to please some people.

Other "dog" stories that never make the news are all the times LEO's are called out and have to dispatch an injured dog. For those unfamiliar with that term, it means we have to put the animal down with a gun shot. I know I have had to do it twice and it sucks. Usually with the owner standing there to upset to do anything for the injured dog.

Obviously a good man, if not a dog lover. Wish there were more of them. I'm sure there are thousands of LE-dog encounters where officers go above and beyond out of simple decency or love of dogs. You don't hear about them as often as the bad stories for the same reason you don't see stories that say "the Friendly family returned home safely today and without incident."
